I have actually never posted to this board before, but stumbled across a story about this visit on the website of the Hola! magazine and had to check in. Readers can leave comments on stories there and I was quite horrified by many of them. The Queen was called ugly, old, stupid, foreign, whatnot  Do people in Spain really harbour feelings like that or are those commentators just a specific kind of idiots?

I have always found her incredibly sophisticated and stylish, a real, old-fashioned lady in the best sense of the word :flowers: and was quite hurt by those comments.

We hear the same about our Queen in Britain lisamarie. Sadly, there will always be the jealous few who can't bear the fact that they aren't in Hola and Queen Sofia is.

Internet is a place where anyone can write any thing, and unfortunately there are many people with little brain and bad enough education. Some webs and forums can´t be read, because only there are people who devotes herself to say barbarities, for saying them. In the web of the Hola, you can warn to the magazine in order that it erases this type of messages.

With Letizia this is more common, with the misfortune added of that always there is some yellow journalist who ends up by commenting on the news that any " without brain" invents in Internet, without verifying anything, and only to earn money. I have never seen to one of these journalists retracting for someone of their falsehoods.

They are boring persons, envious persons ... or persons who for their political ideas are in opposition to the Monarchy, instead of realizing an intelligent critique, come to these things. In Spain much likes to criticize, and that better to criticize those that have power and money.

In general it likes to speak and to criticize the Spanish very much, but then also we can value the things that it is necessary to value. And the Queen Sofia is very respected, though it cost her a lot of time (the "foreigner" was in epoch of Franco, but we have evolved enough since then (always there are exceptions);) ).

Besides, it is curious, because normally these persons criticize frivolous things, because really the important thing, which is the work that they realize, or they do not know it, or if they know it they cannot criticize it.

Next month the Queen will inaugurate her center of the Alzheimer, a project in which she has been involved for years ... and it is what matters ultimately for the people ... and not that is foreign ¿?, or that shows off the years that she has...

You're right lisamaria, the Queen is an extremely sophisticated and hardworking woman and in my opinion a great representative of Spain ('foreign' or not). :flowers:

Unfortunately, as with all monarchies there are always those people who do not support them, but I think the vast crowds that turn out wherever Queen Sofia and King Juan Carlos go proves that those feelings are not felt by the majority of the Spaniards!

thanks for the pictures lula !!!

The Queen looks sad, she must have been disappointed that she had to cancel her trip to Cambodia because she is always very involved in this cooperation projects, but it's good that her number one priority is her family.
