In Santo Domingo- the first stage of her trip - Doña Sofía will support the inhabitants of " los Mina " one of the poorest neighborhoods of the city and also one of the most vulnerable to the rise of the river, that in 2007 suffered the effects of the storms Noel and Olga .

Doña Sofía will inaugurate in the Dominican capital the Technical Office of Cooperation and there will approach up to the school Angélica Massé, of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Maria, who possesses the economic support of the Spanish Agency of International Cooperation (AEECID), of the Valencian Autonomous government and of the Foundation Mapfre and who receives the children most vulnerable.

The Queen will know also a project to improve the life of the children of the street and to help to eradicate the infantile work - that is carried out in San Christopher's municipality - thanks to which the small ones, receive a daily food. In addition, she will converse with them and with the mothers to know directly their situation and their needs.

She will meet the presidents of both countries; with Leonel Fernandez in Santo Domingo and with René Preval in Port-au-Prince, city that scarcely she will see, since all the projects that she will visit are out of this capital of a million inhabitants.

As in all her trips, Doña Sofía will receive the Spanish who live in these countries and will know for the own volunteers like it develops the work of the Spanish cooperation.
