I notice that Felipe is driving the car for himself and Letizia. Is that normal? It seems most royals don't do that. Did he drive all the way from Madrid to Barcelona? Or, maybe he was staying with his sister who lives in Barcelona (or is she the one who moved to DC)? How long a drive is it from Madrid to Barcelona?

8 hours in a good day! They usually drive for themselves even I've seen the queen driving. Probably they arrived to Barcelona by plane and then they got the car to go to the hospital. I. Cristina who lived in Barcelona is the one who moved to WDC so I doubt they stayed at her house.

I heard they flied to Barcelona, picked up a car at the airport and drove it to the hospital. Felipe just came back on a 10-hour overnight flight from Costa Rica.
If the tumor is malignant, it's impossible to hide, he would have to go through a few months of chemotherapy like Harald of Norway. If the King comes back to work in a couple of weeks or a month, then it already proves that the tumor is benign.

Prince explained to reporters that the King is eating, which is recovering very well and already out of bed.
The Princes of Asturias arrived this afternoon at the Hospital Clinic of Barcelona to visit the King, who is recovering from a surgery he underwent, in which he removed a benign nodule in the right lung.

The state of health of the king has made headlines in recent and has reopened the debate on what the line of succession.
In these years there was talk of a possible change in the Constitution that would allow a daughter to inherit the Crown Prince.
However, this change had not yet been carried out and is far produced.

The short space of time that the King was expected to remain sedated in the operating room and not excessive severity of surgical intervention led to both the Royal House and the Government felt that it was Prince Philip must provisionally assume the regency of Spain.

It is so sudden that the king went to hospital to have surgery. It sounded so scary. It seems that he is OK now. All the best to Juan Carlos.

Agree with you. We will know in the coming weeks if the King gets back to his work. But for now, let's hope all is well.

Thumbs up

Thank God there was no malignancy and hopefully El Rey will be back to normal soon. I know the family was relieved and it sounds like he has already made great progress in his recovery.
