King Juan Carlos, Current Events Part 1: June 2014 -

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
If this is a "private" event, can it be considered a working current event?

Probably it was work and pleasure.

That is sad. Whetever good you have done always the people (and us of cource) prefer the gossip.

King Juan Carlos is in Gothenburg, Sweden, for the Volvo Ocean Race. He had dinner at the restaurant Magnus & Magnus on Thursday evening.

- We got a call from someone in the management team of the Volvo Ocean Race who asked if we could take the king and his entourage of five-seven-eight persons on rather short notice. They had sailed in right then and wanted to have dinner, says restaurant manager Nima Tavallaey.
The former king and his group seem to have had a nice visit. They stayed at the restaurant for about three hours and enjoyed a three course meal which in particular, had consisted of Swedish pike.
- They have had a great time. But they seemed tired because they had been out sailing all day. They were in good spirits and were very pleased with the choice of wine and food. They thought the match was really good. The king thought the wine was very good, says Nima Tavallaey.
The Spanish ex-king chose to sit separately with his company. He also chose to enter through the side door.
- We have a back pocket that you can sit secluded. And we took them in through the side door because that was what was wanted, says Nima Tavallaey.

This article again shows how often he didn't bother attending international royal functions, while having no issues travelling to watch a race as a private citizen.

I'm happy he's enjoying his retirement, I'm even happier he's no longer Head of State of Spain.

Wow, I actually tend to forget about KJC with everything else that is going on in the world. He does look much healthier now that he doing what he wants without every little daily thing being critiqued. I am sure that his life now is calmer and certainly more peaceful. The way most of us want our later happy years of life.

King Juan Carlos made a private visit to Finland last week. He had heard that in Finland was on sale a classic sailboat 6mR from 1929. The ceo of Victor Ek, Michael Cedercreutz has competed with the boat during 14 years but he is now selling it because his life situation has changed. Because king Juan Carlos has competed with a similar boat, he decided to buy this one. The king arrived to Finland last week with a private plane. Cedercreutz tells that the king was in Lovisa for two hours and bought the boat, and left back to Spain. Cedercreutz says that this was quite an experience. The king is a nice and warm person. Cedercreutz has a lot of lovely memories with the boat and that's why it was important for him, that the buyer was someone who appreciates the boat and it's beauty. The king had invited Cedercreutz to sail with him in Spain.

King Juan Carlos was also in London last week.. a friend of mine works at Northolt aerodrome, which is the favoured landing place for Private Planes here, and she confirmed that he flew in there on Friday I think.
