wow. so inspiring! what an awesome king.

Thank you for your thoughts, Lula. May I ask, do you have any idea whether the King respects the abilities of his son? Judging mainly by photos, King JC seems to be from the "old boy" days of back room deals/personal relationships to get things done. Felipe seems to be a more earnest, more anxious in front of people and a more up front type -- not as able to rely on the force of his personality and "mixing with the boys" to get things done. Some of this is a virtue of their ages but some seems to be personality. Do you ever hear the King speaking proudly of his son as though he knows the monarchy is in good hands with Felipe?

"These feelings, the same spirit of service, are those who also encourage the Prince of Asturias, who represents the best guarantee of continuity of the commitment of service of the Wreath to Spain."

These were the words of the King yesterday in his speech. Not, it is difficult to know that opinion can have the King of his own son not to be as his speeches or for some commentaries that he has done in any occasion. The Spanish Royal Family rarely grants interviews.
The King and the Prince have a different character. The King always has been a very nice person, who connects very well with the people ... the Prince is a shier person and costs him more. The journalists who follow the Royal Family say that since he has married the Prince has given an important change, which is more relaxed and the Princess brings the people over more.

I believe that quite the people have assumed that his ways of being are different. What nobody doubts is that the Prince is a perfectly formed person, who takes interest as everything and who finds out about everything. He is a serious person in his work that knows that his position has to be gained day after day. The Prince has been educated from child, is curious to see these days articles in those who comment how 23 F, the day of the attempt at one stroke of State, the King did that the Prince who was only a child was awake together with him the whole night.

I believe that almost nobody doubts the capacity of the Prince to exercise in a future his functions. In spite of that the pink press always has showed a more frivolous image of the Prince, I believe that the people know perfectly that he is someone who has been polite well. Always it is said that there has been tried that the Prince does not suffer the syndrome of the " unoccupied inheritor ". The Prince takes years represented Spain in the acts of capture of possession of the Latin-American Chiefs of State, the Prizes put Prince in touch with important persons of the entire world, he supports contacts with politicians, businessmen, people of the culture...In his official agenda scarcely there are acts that could be considered to be "frivolous".

The Prince belongs different from his father, but it seems that he will be capable of developing perfectly his work. Now he lives still in the shade of hisfather, probably in the future could act with more freedom, at the moment he must be more prudent, because there is many eyes and many pressure put in him. The Prince has married and been a father, his life is changing and he is changing also.

Lula, thank you, as always. After I wrote the questions I was reflecting that there is a "machismo" about the king that is missing from the prince. In the United States, the similar kind of "strong male" associated with an earlier generation of men is not the way many men are now. In a general sense, they are "partners" in marriage/parenting; "partners" at work; expected to be a bit more sensitive outwardly than was expected in earlier generations. So another question is, has there been a similar progression among men in Spain? And is Felipe a typical male of his generation?
(Obviously we are speaking generally.)

Kings preside at concert anniversary thirty years of reign

The Kings presided this night in Santa Cruz de Tenerife at the concert that the Government of Canaries has organized to commemorate thirty years of reign in don Juan Carlos' democracy.
With this concert celebrated in the new Audience of Tenerife, designed by the Valencian architect Santiago Calatrava, the Kings put end to his official stay in the islands, which from Sunday up to today it has taken to them also Lanzarote and Great Canary.
In this solemn celebration, the Symphonic Orchestra of Tenerife, directed by his holder, Víctor Pablo Perez, and accompanied by the Choir of the Palau of the Music of Barcelona, it has interpreted the ' Mass of the Coronation ' Mozart's, composed in 1779 for the coronation of an image of the Virgin, and the Symphony number 1 of Brahms.
Two singers tinerfeños, the soprano Maria Orán and the tenor Agustín Prunell, took part also in the concert, in the interpretation of Mozart's work.

(Obviously we are speaking generally.)

Spain is a country that how any modern country advances towards the equality between men and women, the new generations have changed very much. Having seen these days the articles in television is surprising how we have been capable of evolving and advancing in 30 years.

To know how he is the Prince only you have to see the wife who has chosen .... an independent, made woman to if same, with a profession...

Often I have read in some forums the idea of that Letizia does not make acts alone and assumes to a question "machist", and it is not like that. What has done the Royal House is to promote the couple who in turn is to promote the figure of the Prince to show the work of the future Chief of State. Simultaneously one was trying to avoid that the pressure of the mass media frivolizase the image of the Princess. Probably the time of shows that they have done well the things, and that it has been something premeditated that eventually can be good. It is necessary to differ and know well the figure of the Holder and of the Colitigant, each one has a function, one is man or woman.
