It is good to hear about them every so often. I wonder why they aren't as well published as the other royals.

I have moved all the posts relating to the State Visit from Finland to the event's thread, which can be found here.
Please post any further information, pictures and discussion there.

Thanks for the photos, Kyansaunt20! I liked the second link. They seemed really relaxed and happy to mingle with the attendees.

Many thanks to kyansaunt20 for the links to these pictures. MT looks amazingly youthful with this hairstyle! Now if only we could see more pictures of the entire family together.

I'm not actually sure - I've checked the website, but it just says that he's involved with numerous active associations in the realms of culture, sport, economics, government and science.
I don't know if you speak French, but if you do, the page is here.

Thanks, Alex001. I speak a tiny bit of French, and I am able to read some French as well. I didn't know that he was president of a seismology organisation (am I reading this correctly?). That is a very interesting thing to be involved in. Does anyone know how he came to be involved in seismology and geology?

Sgl, I think that's because, although it was established by several governments of member states of the European Council (which, if memory serves me correctly, is an organisation entirely independant of the EU), it is supported by the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, whose role is to:
- Cover the cost of the permanent staff
- Organize the Journées Luxembourgeoises de Geodynamique
- Colloquia and workshops related to geodynamics and seismology
- Support will also be provided to cover the cost of publishing the "Cahiers de l'ECGS" and
- the cost of the maintenance and equipment of the Walferdange Geodynamic Laboratory."
Two audiences with the Grand Duke were held today:
Cour grand-ducale de Luxembourg - Audience LAR
This one was with the pilots and the board of directors (is that how you'd translate Conseil d'Administration?) of Luxembourg Air Rescue.
Cour grand-ducale de Luxembourg - Audience EUROSKILLS
This one was with champions of EUROSKILL, which is part of the EU Lifelong Learning Programme and "...forms an important stage on which Europe can profile itself to the world on the basis of a number of different skills. Innovation within European vocational skills and international cooperation are a major factor. To participate in EuroSkills is to participate in a total experience. Just as for Skills Masters, the EuroSkills event is structured according to the concept of seeing, doing and informing. The exciting vocational competitions are a source of inspiration and offer a clear overview of the state of affairs within the various skills areas. European trades that are qualified for the competitions and presentations at EuroSkills 2008 vary from natural resources to technology and from transport to commerce, service & administration."
