Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, Picture Thread

This photo was taken at the Dutch state visit to Luxembourg in March, 1981.

Maria Teresa is wearing the citrine and pearl tiara/bandeau. This was probably Maria Teresa's first formal event after marrying Henri in February, 1981. Henri and MT had recently returned from their honeymoon in Nassau, Bahamas. She was newly pregnant with her first child, Guillaume.

(When Henri and Maria Teresa got engaged in November, 1980, they were told that they could either get married before or after the upcoming state visit. Since they wanted to get married as soon as possible, they chose the earlier date. Only later did they realize that this was, in fact, St. Valentine's Day.)

Yes, it must have been Maria Teresa's first formal event after she married Henri in February 1981.
