Wishing her a speedy recovery and hopefully a quick diagnosis on the illness (uncertainty about the cause can often be nervwrecking for patient and family)

Wishing Queen Paola the very best!

Luckily the situation doesn't seem to be that bad. I wish Queen Paola a full and speedy recovery.

Come on! I am just back from three weeks in Italy. It is a first world country with absolutely top-class health care. In nothing it trails behind Belgium. I can even imagine the Queen, an Italian herself, would prefer treatment there.

I am not bashing Italy in any way, I'm merely saying that she would have a preferential treatment in Belgium that she wouldn't get in Italy, simply for the fact that she's a member of the Royal Family, nothing about the quality of healthcare in either country.

I would actually prefer if you don't interact with me since you seem to misunderstand/misuse my words all the time. Thank you.

I hope Paola bounces back quickly, even if it was a minor stroke, things like that aren't that simple at her age.

Good news! Queen Paola has left the hospital in Brussels today!

The Palace confirmed that Queen Paola had "had a mild stroke."

"Her Majesty Queen Paola had a mild stroke. She quickly recovered all her faculties spontaneously and probably will not preserve any sequelae of this brief incident." She has been allowed to leave the hospital and will have to continue to take "appropriate preventive medication that will effectively protect her from further recurrence."

:previous: This is indeed very good news. I have criticized these two in the past but I don't doubt how devoted they are.

They would be completely lost without one another.

Great to hear that Paola has been discharged. I hope she continues to do well.

Wonderful news regarding Queen Paola leaving hospital.

What do you mean: "We pay"? Any resident in Belgium, even illegals, have right on medical treatment. It does not matter one is a pauper or a royal. Doctors in Belgium will help you.

I am surprised with your remark. I can not imagine that when Prince Philip, Prince Henrik or Princess Beatrix were in hospital, people would make remarks about the costs. That the Queen is transported with an aeroplane: of course. Ordinary Belgians are also transported with special flights if needed and we can not expect Queen Paola, King Albert and the whole escort in a full comnercial Air Italia plane to Brussels. Come on.
As a Belgian, I completely agree with you !:flowers:

Very good news, she has to take it easy for the next days, maybe don't put herself through the ordeal of traveling, which is tiresome even if it is close and in private planes.

The Queen is very lucky , it was not the first time but I fear also for King Albert II who is frail .

Father Time is the same for all of us, royalty and commoners alike ;)

So she could go to this concert but not to the King's Feast two weeks ago.
Interesting, to say the least...

Nice to see King Albert and Queen Paola. The King looks frail, the Queen seems to have improved. She is still a beautiful lady. I wish them well.

The Queen is recovering from a stroke. It is widely known that this period of recuperation comes with setbacks, with good and bad days. Possibly Queen Paola felt good enough to attend a concert in the framework of her Foundation. Good for her and nice for her Foundation to see their lady patroness.

They have to justify their high Dotation as they are mostly living out of Belgium.

.

King Albert and Queen Paola attended the gala concert of the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel at the Bozar in Brussels this evening, March 21 - I've made a few screenshots:

Already pictures , thank you Iceflower.

Queen Paola gave her bouquet to the pianist Victoria Vassilenko after her performance. A treasure she wrote on Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth's facebook.

To me it's still weird to see a king voting... I know he is no longer a reigning monarch but the custom that even direct heirs (and in that same line but slightly less problematic former sovereigns) vote to me undermines their impartiality which is an essential part of a monarchical system imo.
