Strangely, "Het Nieuwsblad" has offered a second, larger picture special under this title: http://www.nieuwsblad.be/article/detail.aspx?articleid=DMF20110517_084 (FOTOSPECIAL. Koning Albert en Barroso op bezoek in het MAS)

Has the Queen worn the new set of jewels she got from the State Visit to DR Congo?

On May 18, 2011 Queen Paola attended an academic session commemorating the 50th anniversary of the baby-sitting service "Gezinsbond" (League of Families) in Brussels: http://www.pressdisplay.com/pressdi...62b8536&key=2PDWPHrzDyD3HqMWnpQTRg==&feed=rss -article from "Het Belang Van Limburg" (May 19, 2011). This is the only coverage which I've discovered so far and that picture of Queen Paola has been taken on May 17, 2011 during the official opening of the Museum aan de Stroom...:ermm:

Queen Paola today attended an event that Child Focus organized on the occasion of the
International Day of Missing Children. The festival took place on the site of the Atomium
in Brussels, attended by around 300 children.

You are most welcome, Lina RdC :flowers: I've also enjoyed the video!

That same day, May 25, Queen Paola also attended a reception and dinner for the 10th
anniversary of "Missing Children Europe" in Brussels.

Queen Paola and Princess Mathilde

Missing Children is very important ; Queen Silvia of Sweden AND her daughter Victoria are also involved.
I don't understrand why the Queen is going alone and never ask the Crown Princess to share the Event.
Regarding the relationship of Queen Beatrix and Princess Maxima what a difference. Such a Party for Maxima 's birthday will never happen in Belgium
because the relationship between Paola and Fabiola are not the best such as the relationship between Queen Paola and Mathilde. But the relationship between Queen Fabiola and Mathilde is nice to see.
On July 21th at the beginning of Mathilde's wedding they were sitting to-gether and had fun ; now they have the shy Prince Philippe between them!

Thanks a lot for all those interesting additions, Lina RdC!

Today, June 1st, Queen Paola handed out the diplomas of the Queen Paola 2010-2011 prize in Brussels.
The prize is annually given to a teacher or a group of teachers, honours their creativity and their devotion.
It is a way of awarding them for concrete and original education achievements.

Yes, Missing Children/Child Focus is a very important project indeed but I do believe that Crown Princess Mathilde is involved in it viz. supports Queen Paola's dedication (apparently even jointly with the other two Belgian Princesses Astrid and Claire -remember their presence at the major conference "Vulnerable children on the run, a challenge for Europe" back in November 2010). Admittedly, I have no idea how much additional impact Mathilde would effectuate in case she accompanied Paola to minor events in Belgium and/or abroad which relate to Missing Children/Child Focus. Perhaps you -as a Belgian- can estimate this issue more accurately...

:previous: Complementing this lovely pictorial coverage on Queen Paola's presence at the 54th Venice Biennale, here is an article in Dutch: Cobra.be: Koningin Paola met Jan Hoet op Biënnale Venetië
On June 21, 2011 the queen was guided through the Belgian pavilion by the artist Angel Vergara (who displays seven large screens representing the deadly sins). Paola also visited the Biennale's central exhibition "Illuminations" in company with the curator Curiger.

I thought to see a smiling Queen in Italy but on pic 2 she shows how the event seems boring. In Belgium we know and also the press that the Queen has bad days (royal visit in India)
To Linda Rdc :
I should like to see more Queen and Crown princess to-gether.
They are wonderful pictures of Queen Fabiola and the Crown Princess, they love each other.

On July 7, 2011 Queen Paola visited the exhibition "Young Belgian Painters Award 2011" at the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels:

The "Prix de la Jeune Peinture Belge" (Young Belgian Painters Award) is a collaboration between the association "Jeune Peinture Belge" (which has worked for over half a century for young visual artists in the country) and the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels.

HM The King is right , we are looking to his message on 21st of July!

:previous:Thank you for those two press reports, fancatt! The "Hola"-article has obviously been written based on this longer article from "Het Nieuwsblad": Het Nieuwsblad - Koningin Paola hielp Paleis grondig renoveren
Queen Paola -as the major driving force behind the redesign- had a considerable influence on this most extensive renovation of the Royal Palace during the past 40 years. According to Kathy Pauwels, she envisages a palace which is evolving over time and King Albert -giving his wife plenty of rope- has even joked with an artist from the MAS in Antwerp saying that (in a sense) the latter knows her better than he himself:ROFLMAO:.
