King Harald is spending the last days of his sick leave fishing Salmon in Namdals river. He and his company arrived at the airport in Trondheim on june 3 and are staying until monday, then the King will return to Oslo to take up his constitutional duties on June 7. King Harald has visited Namdal every year since 2002, in 2003 he got his so far biggest slamon which was 8 kilos. His sailing and fishing buddy Robin Aisher got one that weighed 13 kilos in 2003. The lcoals says the King never complains about the fishing conditions or if someone gets bigger salmon than him:p -the loclas are very proud that the King chooses to come fishing here every year and says thet they belive he does so because they are left alone and noon makes a big deal out of it (except the local paper it seems Link to the big vertion of the picture http://www.namdalsavisa.no/multimedi...en_614611g.jpg |

I fond this article about Queen Sonja and her dress from F and Ms wedding that was by Dominique Sirop, but I dont understand french, could someone translate what the text says, thanks in advance.
source http://www.dominiquesirop.com/en/Dominique_Sirop/4.htm http://www.dominiquesirop.com/en/Dom...p/parution.pdf I did find it a tad strange that dominique Sirop puts something like this on his website, it almost like he is using the Queen for advertising, there is a similar piece on his website about Queen Rania and her dress for F an L prewedding dinner |

Hi Larzen !
In fact, the article doesn't reveal unknown details . It is said that Queen Sonja speaks French very well (I would love to hear her speaking French ...:) ), that she used to wear dresses by Pierre Balmain, that she has a very contemporary taste in fashion matters, that she likes a bit of eccentricity in her dresses . And the dress she wore at Fred and Mary's wedding is also described but with technical terms that I'm not able to translate (...sorry ...) .That's all ! :) :) :) |

More of King Harald sailing in Sweden, its good to see him recovered, it looks like he has lost quite alot of weight. I think his sun bleached sailor cap cant be a day under 15 year old, as long as I can remember he has always worn that cap when sailinghttp://pub.tv2.no/nettavisen/side2/k...&slide=2#slide

This photo accompanied an article about Queen Sonjas International Music Competition (classical music). She will host a concert with former winners of the competition at the Palace August 24, 2005. This concert will also be the first one in the Palace since 1907.

A few translated snippets from this article on VG.no.
His face lights up even more when we ask if it is okay to ask a few questions about his grandchildren. "It's always nice to talk about them." "Do tell!" "It is much fun with grandchildren. Now there is one more on the way, and that is very nice," King Harald says and smiles. "How is the King as a grandfather?" "I never thought I'd be as silly as other grandparents, but I have," he states and laughs about himself. "What does the King do with the grandchildren?" "They're still pretty young, but I do what other grandparents do. They come visit us, and we visit them." "And then it is down on the knees to play?" "Almost like that," the King laughs, and tells us that the family and the grandchildren meant a lot to him when he was ill. "In those situations you notice how much family matters, certainly," the monarch continues thoughtfully. --- Before Easter the King's doctor, Halfdan Ihlen ordered the King and Queen to step down a bit and take it easier in the future. But steering a king isn't always easy. "We have to see what we do. If we take it easier, there are more duties for the Crown Prince Couple. But we (The King and Queen) automatically get a bit older, so it might come naturally," says the King. Before he, in the next sentence, clarifies that being a part-time king is out of the question. "It won't work, we don't have a tradition like that in Norway." "Does the King wish that we had such a tradition?" "No, not really. I find it okay the way we do it." "How about Queen Sonja?" "She has more energy than ever," says the King. He has over the past years almost created a "tradition" of being away sailing on his wife's birthday. Also this year. When the Queen invites to her 68th birthday celebration on the summer house on Mågerø tomorrow, the King focusses on sailing around Gotland as fast as possible. "But I've got something set up. But she doesn't know about it, yet," grins king Harald.

King Harald won the European Championships in Sailing, last night, with his crew and FRAM XV. By placing fourth in the last leg of the race, they won the title by having the best results from the various legs over the past week.
Nice work. http://www.vg.no/pub/vgart.hbs?artid=283017

According to another article from VG covering the King and his crew winning the European championship, the King switched to Swedish when asked questions by Swedish journalists. The King responded; "I have a Swedish mother, you know, and I speak Swegian I guess" Swegian (svorsk) is when a person mixes the two languages together to make one strange dialect.http://www.vg.no/pub/vgart.hbs?artid=283071
