The King and Queen in Sandnes: Så vidt de fikk blomstene

The kids with flowers became self-conscious when the royals arrived, and didn't want to hand over their flowers. Sonja managed to talk them more calm, and eventually got her flowers. The kids' comments afterwards: "I thought the King had such a nice face. I wanted to give the flowers to him."

The King is really busy lately. Thumb up for him!
Actually the last months the King had most engagements of all members of the Royal Family and it seems to be the same in February.
He really does a great job!
It's not surprising that he is the most popular and loved member of the NRF. ;)

It was actually mentioned somewhere, (in a connection with the popularity poll or something like that) that the King's busy-ness was a strategic move from the royal family. He's the head of the family, ergo, he'll be in the front.

I expect it also has something to do with his health - now that it is ok, he'll be doing a lot, since there has been times in the past when he has been forced to take it easy, as there will be as he grows older.

King Harald received a gift of friendship from the Pakistani state today. He wasn't present himself to receive it, but according to the Information adviser, he was very grateful.

The Pakistani temporary minister of tourism pointed out that by attending events tied to Pakistan, in Norway, (the concert of support for the earth quake in 2005, Pakistani national day in 2006) and have been declaring himself as king of all of Norway, also the newer Norwegians from other cultures. He also mentioned that King Harald is welcome to visit Pakistan any time. Kongen fikk vennskapsgave av pakistansk minister - VG Nett

More pictures of the Royal Couple visiting the school :
kongehuset.no - Blindernveien skole

The little boy had originally invited King Harald to come to his birthdayparty , but the King said he would visit him at his school instead.
And so the King and Queen visited this little boy's school.
That's really cute.
Maybe I should try to invite the Royal Couple as well... ;)

Such a sweet story. I bet the little boy was over the moon. :flowers: It's nice to see royalty responding in such a way, especially where a child is concerned. Way to go King Harald!

Love the Queen's look. That hat is one of favourites (probably because it is a normal, pretty hat).

Visit to Nordland 16-19 June 2008

The Norwegian royals try to make extended visits in the Norwegian municipalities, and this time it has come to municipalities in Nordland.

They will be out and about from the 16th to the 19th of June.

It will start in the evening of the 16th at the Petter Dass Museum and a church concert in Alstahaug Church.

It continues on the 17th with a visit to Træna municipality. Træna has over 1,000 islands, but only 4 of them are inhabited. It has 472 inhabitants. In the afternoon they'll visit Lurøy municipality.

On the 18th they'll visit Rødøy municipality and Meløy municipality.

On the 19th they'll visit Gildeskål municipality.

I love these types of visits to the municipalities. Looking forward to this!
