Very lovely pictures. Sonja is indeed beautiful. According to Royauté Sonja had a miscarriage on July 2, 1970. I wonder if the picture was taken on a different date as birthday photos often are or just "miscaptioned".

I am guessing that the captions are incorrect but I could be wrong. How very sad for Sonja and Harald.
However, one can see where Martha-Louise gets her soulful expression and beauty...to me she looks like her mama but Haakon does as well. :) They are an attractive family, no doubt.

They are nice photos of Sonja. Yes i agree Julia. They are indeed is a good looking family. Queen Sonja is a very beautiful woman.

The photo captions were correct - these photos were indeed taken during her first announced pregnancy - Crown Princesss Sonja had 4 announced pregnancies - miscarried #1 in 1970 and #3 in 1972.
Publically known pregnancy #2 produced Princess Märtha Louise in 1971. Publically known pregnancy #4 produced Prince Haakon Magnus in 1973.

Thanks Mandy for these great pictures. I espescially loved the photo of the three ladies reading about Harald and Sonja in the paper. That's such a great slice of life image! As many people must've followed Harald and Sonja's relationship as those who now follow Haakon and Mette-Marit's relationship!
Imagine how great their love must've been that they managed to hold on for 9 years before receiving approval to be married. Talk about a test of their love!

The engagement the ladies were reading about were NEWS - the norwegian media did not write or talk about Sonja prior to the engagement.

What a beautiful Crown Princess ! I have always found that Queen Sonja was one of the most beautiful royal women I had ever seen but these pictures make me think that she is the MOST beautiful of all . What a Queen for Norway !
By the way I too think that there is a resemblance between her and Mette-Marit ! Perhaps due to their beautiful bone structures ...

Its really strange how some of the families of europe are really beautiful , like Norway and Monaco , while the others, or at least some of them, are less attractive..

You may forget Sweden : Look at those two lovely princesses, Victoria and Madeleine ! But it's true that some others are less lucky, for example in Spain or Great Britain ..... But, anyway, beauty does not mean that you are great queens or princesses (even if the Norwegian Royal Family has, to me, both beauty and greatness :) ) ...
