Thanks for the update!:flowers:

The interview appears to be usual. It is great to know that His Majesty plants special rice with his children and grandchildren.

The scroll behind his Majesty is unusually vivid.

More from this article:
Emperor Akihito canceled his attendance at a ritual ceremony scheduled for Monday morning at the Imperial Palace due to a mild fever, the Imperial Household Agency said.

The 83-year-old Emperor had received a flu shot over the weekend. The inoculation may have contributed to the fever, an agency official said, adding that the decision to cancel was made to be “on the safe side.”

The fever was easing as of Monday and the Emperor has shown no sign of a cold or other symptoms, according to the agency.

Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko will also meet with families of former Japanese soldiers during their Vietnam trip. Although many soldiers returned home after the Pacific War, about 600 stayed and joined the Vietnam independence alliance against French re-colonization. Many later returned to Japan, leaving their wives and children.

The Imperial couple received explanations about the families and invited them for meetings at a hotel in Hanoi on March 2nd.
They will also meet with former international students on the 2nd.

Vietnam was separated into north and south under the 1954 Geneva Agreement, which brought an end to the war, at which time most of the Japanese soldiers returned home.

Many of the soldiers had married local women and had children, but they were not allowed to bring their families to Japan. The number of their children is estimated at several hundreds and many of them faced discrimination because of their ethnic background.
I suppose these meetings were long overdue.

Empress suffering from shingles after trip to Vietnam, Thailand ‹ Japan Today: Japan News and Discussion
Empress Michiko has been diagnosed as suffering from herpes zoster, or shingles, apparently due to fatigue after she and Emperor Akihito made a weeklong trip to Vietnam and Thailand that ended last week, the Imperial Household Agency said Thursday.

The 82-year-old empress has suffered from a bout of herpes zoster on the upper part of her belly since Tuesday and has been taking medicine, the agency said, adding she does not have a fever.

The empress is expected to conduct her duties and attend events as scheduled, the agency said.

Wishing Her Majesty a smooth recovery.
