I'm hoping to see Queen Margrethe's New Year's Speech tonight via the internet on live stream and it will be interesting to see what she has to say this year!

Q Margrethe never appears stuffy, she always makes good eye contact and her smile looks so warm, as though she is actually enjoying exactly what she is doing. Very gracious, elegant, yet down to earth lady (when she is displeased, that also shows, such as the airplane making incident at little Henrik's baptism). She's a treasure and has many talents outside the realm of being the queen.

Is there a translation or an article that can be translated?

I hope someone can provide an English translation soon. The Queen looks lovely. I'm curious - why are there Danish subtitles when she's speaking Danish?

The Queen's speech can be found here in Danish, and translated into English here.

She mentions the COP15 Summit, the birth of Prince Henrik, the Danish soldiers in Afghanistan and Princess Mary's recent visit there, and the State Visit to Vietnam; amongst other things.

Maura, I'd assume the Danish subtitles would be apart of closed captioning (to allow the deaf to be able to understand the speech as well).

Queen Margrethe's speech is very impressive, especially the fact that she delivers it live. A remarkable woman.

I didn't know she delivers it live - that would be so much more nervewracking!

Typically, I couldn't find the speech live on the internet, but it's great to see the you-tube above and the translation - thanks so much! It really is very impressive that QM2 does it live every year and she always has much to say. She does look lovely and Denmark must surely be very proud of their queen!

I love her new year speeches.. Always so optimistic, and that is the only time of year she can almost be political, and point fingers of the stupid Danes :P

I loved the year she said we were entering 2008, when in fact it was 2009..
