Queen Margrethe's Birthday: April 16 (2003-2019, 2021 - 2023)

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Tomorrow is QMII's B-day.

As always there will be a balcony appearance with the whole family.

BB will send live from Amalienborg from around 11.50 and until they have appeared on the balcony three or four times.

Normally the Regent Couple will appear on the central balcony first, but this year QMII is alone, so my guess is that she will walk out on the balcony and then call for all her grandchildren to join her. The parents will stand on the two flanking balconies.

QMII will shout out her thanks and then call for the crowd to join her in a nine-fold cheer for Denmark, after which the royal anthem is played.
Then she will withdraw.
But traditionally the crowd will call for the DRF to appear again, roughly translated they chant: "Queen, Queen come on out, or we'll never go home!"
That repeats itself two or three times and around 12.15 the show is over.

You can watch via these links: BILLED-BLADET Play - Danmarks royale TV - Videoer med de kongelige

https://www.billedbladet.dk/kongeli...a-dronning-margrethes-78-aars-foedselsdag-paa

The live transmission begins in exactly 22 hours from this has been posted.

The coverage from the regular TV-networks is of course better, but they may not send the whole thing live.

Thanks Muhler! :flowers:

The regular TV-networks:

DR1: As usual nothing (a bit strange since they sent both the trooping and balcony appearance from London, celebrating the birthday of QEII, live last year).

TV2: Nothing (perhaps they will send parts of it in their News broadcast at 12:00).

TV2 News: Nothing scheduled in the TV-guide, but hopefully they will send it.

Thanks, Royal Norway.

That's typical!

They will send summaries later, but I like to follow the show live (if I could tomorrow that is ) so even though the quality will be less, I'll recommend watching the live links from BB and perhaps BT as well.
I don't know if the regional TV2 Lorry will show live, but I'm far from certain that can be seen outside DK.

I'm looking forward to seeing Josephine and Athena. That should be lively! :D

It's jacket-weather tomorrow - 12-16 degrees C. But judging from the weather charts there should be no rain at Amalienborg around noon.

This birthday will not be so happy - first without Prince Henrik...

Thanks, Royal Norway.

That's typical!
I know!

DR1 are sending the non-milestone birthdays of QEII (a foreign monarch) live, but not that of their own monarch.
I actually find this so laughable that I'm considering writing to them and say exactly what I mean about it.

Here is the full 28 minutes coverage from Billed Bladet:

Never fear, Iceflower and I are checking Daily Mail every 45 seconds for their article. Then we can all go to sleep tonight, contended. ?

I was literally seconds behind you! ?

And Prince Waldemar of Schaumburg-Lippe with his wife was at Amalienborg today for Queen's Birthday

Sorry if I miss out, why Fred wasn't there? I am sure this will be a difficult one for the Queen without Henry!

Frederik was on a private visit in Greenland.

On the occasion of H.M. Queen's 78th birthday is published in Greenland new stamps with seven different watercolors, as the Queen has painted.

He is - apparently - in Greenland since the weekend....

I've had time to look at the many delightful photos.

It's good to see the obviously good relationship between sisters Isabella and Josephine.
And I hope Nikolai is fond of his hair, because when he joins the army later this year, he'll be under considerable peer-pressure to lose it. :D

What would be the male equivalent of Mona Lisa?
Vincent's quiet smile somehow reminds me of Mona Lisa.

A magafon-poll today has shown the so far greatest support of QMII so far - they said in the the news.
78 or 79 % are in favor of the monarchy as the best form of government.
90 % believe QMII is doing a good or very good job.

- Of course QMII is getting a lot of sympathy and the way the funeral was handled and held was very well done IMO! That is no doubt a contributable factor.
That Frederik is also very popular and given a lot of positive press here up to his brithday and the fact that he is increasingly seen as ready to take over, reflects on QMII I believe. - She has done a good job in preparing the next generation for what seems to be a successful takeover.
So while QMII like everybody else has her flaws they are not serious and more importantly she doesn't hide her flaws and in some cases she doesn't give a hoot. Like smoking openly, wearing furs and so on - and that is popular!

Is he the one who married that photographer who caused such a scandal in the 90s?

Lovely pictures. Vincer does have a super cute smile!!

The Queen’s birthday pictures and videos are always a joy to watch

Well, from the Queen´s children and grandchildren I think especially Prince Nicolai is best when it comes to the "royal wave"! Very dignified and a bit surprising for a young man of his age!:flowers:
When I compare him with William and Harry:whistling:, oh dear, I think it looks so much more what I really call "royal"!

On her birthday and while standing on the balcony, QMII remembered her husband by wearing a number of the jewellery he has presented her with over the years.

A couple of trivia based on an article in BB this week.

QMII wore a number of jewels presented to her by PH and as such he was there in spirit as well.
It was Henrik who was the most lively of the children on the balcony this year. He did some moves to the music.
Poor Josephine was struck in the eye by her older sister who waved a bit too enthusiastically.

But see for yourselves here: BB #16, 2018

Yes and now his stepson Marie-Max who was adopted by an older widowed Princess zu Schaumburg-Lippe (a married in) has some quarrel with Fürst Alexander zu Schaumburg-LIppe.

I loved seeing the photos and videos of Margrethe's birthday; thank you to everyone who shared them with us.
Loved how Josephine seemed to be entertaining herself with Isabella on the balcony! It seems that Athena is growing a fringe as well - I love the photo of her with Margrethe from the Robin Utrecht gallery, Margrethe looks so pleased to see that her granddaughter is having a good time.

Thanks, Iceflower. :flowers:

Great! At Marselisborg. That means the family will remain on the terrace, rather than going in and out of the balcony at Amalienborg.
And we may hope Josephine and Athena will entertain us again this year.

Let's hope the weather is fine on the day.

It seems only the Crown Princely Family is present.

Correct. Only the CP family was present.

I haven't seen any explanation yet as to why J&M were not there.

I like that the scene changes from time to time.
The balcony scene in Copenhagen is much larger and more spectacular, while the scene in Aarhus is more intimate and closer to people and it aloows more interaction between the various members of the DRF - especially children and dogs.

A very nice gallery from Jyllands Posten:

Notice that the children went out to greet the crowd.
