Queen Margrethe's 75th Birthday Celebrations: April 2015

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
What medals are they wearing,is it the Queen's 75th birthday?

Couldn't see the whole show live, but I've seen the balcony scene afterwards and there were a couple of details I noticed.

Bella drumming with her fingers on the banister in tune to the birthday song being played.
Vincent spooking his farmor, when he undaunted crawled up on the banister to get a better view. Fortunately cousins Nikolai and Felix were at hand to keep things under control.
Vincent isn't the son of a Frogman for no reason...

The very same cousins later filmed the crowd with their phones.

While mademoiselle Athena stood still and looked at the crowd Vincent couldn't see any reason to go inside after the final appearance. And why should he when all these people had shown up to see him? :p

The TV2 commentators have just said that we will NOT get to hear Frederik's (and the other) private speeches at tonight's dinner. We did that at Margrethe 70th birthday. And it was a hit when Frederik held the speech and I will really miss it. But this year the Royal Family have decided to do it differently and actually we only will get to see the arrivals tonight.

Pity. Hopefully we will also get to see tha arrival in the Main hall because otherwise we will get no pics of the guests who stay inside the Castle.

But why nine hurrah's for the Monarch or Denmark?

That goes back to around the year 1600.
Well, the Danish ID signal back then was three shots with a cannon, and that was also used by navy ships when entering a port or encountering another warship..
That signal was also used by the army, like this morning at 08.30 when the Royal Lifeguard fired three shots at Fredensborg from their field pieces (lighter cannons).
When a Danish army went on the attack it was with three hurrah's as the battle cry. And three hurrah's were also used when a commander took over the command of an army or regiment.
But when the King took over command, it was 3x3 hurrah's and that tradition has remained until today.
(The Swedish ID is four shots and as a consequence four hurrah's).

However, the navy always want to outdo the army, so they decided to do better, by firing 3X9 shots in honor of the monarch. Later on the artillery adopted that salute as well.
The international salute for a monarch is actually 21 shots but Denmark does that one better.

ADDED: DR1 will cover the arrival of the guests from 19.00 - in four hours from now.

Are you sure that it was Vincent? I think that it was Henrik :) CP Mary with Marie (who was inside) laughed when Hernik stayed on balcony...

I think you are right.
Vincent should have green hair, that would make things so much easier. :p

When Vincent had to give up his good vantage point up (why do the adults always have to spoil one's good plans) he just found another solution :D

There was a ridiculously large amount of people at Amalienborg today – it was extraordinary, amazing and a little frightening at the same time :D

I think they were very generous with the balcony time, it was wonderful when QMII came out with her grandchildren, and it was so lovely to see members of the other Scandinavian royal families and the Queen's sisters appear on the balconies of Mary and Frederik's palace – there was a very funny moment where seemingly the entire crowd realised that they were there as well and then collectively turned away from QMII and Christian VIII's Palace to get a good look at the others as well

And I must say, Vincent climbing the baluster was moderately terrifying :ROFLMAO:

Ready for cuteness? :)

TV2 news has now the clip online:
After the royal family had went inside Princess Isabella herself open the large balcony door, sticking her head out, smiles to the the large crowd, go back in and then you can see that she is dancing and jumping around inside :D

DR1 just showed Daniel and Haakon returning from a little jog around Fredensborg.

Unsurprisingly almost the entire issue of BB this week is devoted to QMII.
I don't think I will bother to write summaries this week as it has mostly already been covered here. But see for yourselves: https://app.box.com/s/j28pra86t00q96rolu5xza9jb9qlcupd

Thanks, TLLK :)

Muhler-It's been about a month now since she first appeared with her leg brace. She's used a wheelchair as well for some of her engagements.

TV2 commentator and BB's Annemette Krakau says that both the Swedish and the Norwegian Crown Prince Couple right now is home at Frederik and Mary in the Chancellery House where they together will get ready.

Maybe they will stroll to Fredensborg like last time?

thank you all for the wonderful coverage of information and pictures.

Is estelle in denmark with victoria and Daniel?

I don't know. Johan T Lindwall from Expressen and Margareta Gotthardsson from Svensk Damtidning are both in Denmark, and they haven't written anything about Estelle. Lindwall just wrote that Victoria and Daniel arrived to Copenhagen this morning.

I wonder if there's been a slight security scare?

:previous: Aww.

Lovely!
Thanks for sharing Polyesco.

For those who watch live, the guests are arriving now.

ADDED: The whole thing is delayed due to an alarm that had guardsmen and police officer rushing in.
The perpetrators turned out to be three doves who has parked themselves on a fence and thus triggered the alarm.
After the police questioned the feathered intruders the guests are now allowed to go in.

No tiaras? I think I recognized some tiara-owning ladies who entered without tiaras.

I also think i have spotted some danish noble ladies who have worn tiara at similiar Events. But lets wait if the Royals will wear them or not.
