Thank you to everyone who keeps posting photos....It has made my day! I'm at home and should be working, but I keep sneaking back to check for updates. What a fun celebration and wonderful gathering of royals. Even the volcano didn't seem to have that much impact on the amount of glitter. Thank you, thank you!

They were supposed to attend, weren't they?
Maybe they didn't make it to Denmark due to the closing of many airports in Europe (well, but then on the other hand the Dutch Royals were also able to arrive in Denmark).

I guess this was already mentioned in this thread; but weren't the King and Queen also supposed to come to Copenhagen?
 
I was really impressed to see the theater evening, and such a lot of red uniforms.
The Queen wore the state emerald jewelry I saw at Rosenberg Castle.
Princess Mary was perfect wearing only the tiara and not the necklace.
Queen Anne-Marie stunning emeralds and wonderful dress , she looked younger than her daughter Alexia. Benedicte perfect as usual.
I saw behind Queen Margarethe's children Ingolf and Christian of Danemark with their wifes but not their sister Princess Elisabeth.
I noticed on the guestlist that 2 brothers of Prince Henrik were there, Jean-Baptiste and Etienne de Montpezat and also the Bardin/Beauvillain .

Acoording to danish newspaper BT, the royals who cancelled their attendance were the Spanish King and Queen and Crown Prince Philippe and Princess Mathilde

Thanks for all information and photos related to Queen Margrethe's birthday celebrations! Surronded by her family, Her Majesty looked truly happy. Pictures captured a lot of warm moments between royals.
It has been nice to see Crown Princess Victoria attending the festivities with Mr. Westling. I am quite surprised to notice an absence of the members of the Belgian royal family. Even if Crown Princely couple has had their reasons not to attend, I expected Prince Laurent or Princess Astrid to step in. Well, the British royals do not attend as usually.
 
I am crossing my fingers hoping that Mary tonight will reveal the pink dress she wore under the green coat at Frederik's 40th birthday. We haven't seen it yet, but I have a feeling it is fabulous and will one more make her the belle of the ball - together with the birthday girl, of course :flowers:
 
I swear I was thinking about that dress too!! Is tonight tiaras? Or just formal, I don't know what you call the difference.. Black tie?

I know I'm in the minority, but I actually liked Princess Alexia's dark gown. I think it was quite elegant and slimming on her. I think her powdery-looking makeup didn't do her or her dress justice.

Unfortunately only user with a Danish IP are able to watch the TV2 and DR's stream. But the TV2 news channel probably will broadcast the arrival of the Royals, as they did yesterday with the Theathre Gala. It is suppoused the royals arrived in 15 minutes, more or less.

the dresscode is black tie, and optional dress length and optional tiara.

So far - I am watching TV2 right now - I have only seen long dresses - and a tiara:flowers: It was countess Susie, married to the queen's cousin, count Ingolf of Rosenborg, who was wearing it. Hopefully, more ladies will follow her example!


Several female guests whom I do not know have arrived wearing tiaras, so..... hopefully another royal tiara event.

Dont worry if you don't watch the dinner at Fredensborg live, DR usually provide its whole programs one the live stream finish, as they did with the Docmental "The Monarchy Inside"

At the moment the last video they provide was the reception at the City Hall
