Translation of a Billed-Bladet article:
(the event being written about took place on 5 August, when the Queen and Prince Joachim opened the exhibtion "Margrethe II - paintings and watercolours")

The Queen has taken out paintings from her private collection at Amalienborg, Marselisborg and Graasten Palace, and exhibits it all at the museum in Løgumkloster.

Before Queen Margrethe took off for her holiday in France, she was in Løgumkloster to open an exhibition with 45 of her own pieces of art. And it's not an accident that the 22 paintings and 23 watercolours hang at the Museun Holmen, because Her Majesty herself took part in hanging them up the day before the opening.

- We had a great morning while we walked around, hanging them up. Well I sat, said the Queen with an indication to her bad knee.

There is no doubt that a regent herself can be moved when she gets an offer to exhibit her art, and being tributed for the result.

- It gives me weak knees, said Queen Margrethe in her speech, and she was notably moved, embarassed and proud.

Margrethe explain how it is for her to show her art:
- It's a little like sending your children out in the world, but I hope that people will find them nice to look at.

Many thanks for your translations Grand Duchess.:)

I found it interesting that after all these years Her Majesty still gets nervous and a bit "giddy" about exhibiting her work. What a Queen!:)

Default Illustrations by the Queen

i read that the queen illustrated the lord of the rings in one of its editions, as it mentions in the royal website

Quote:
J.R.R. Tolkien: “The Lord of The Rings” published in Danish in 1977 and 2002; “The Lord of the Rings” was reissued with HM The Queen’s illustrations in 2002; “Historierne om Regnar Lodbrog” (the tales about Regnar Lodbrog), 1979; “Bjarkemål” (the song of Bjarke), 1982; Poul Ørum: “Komedie i Florens” (comedy in Florence), 1990. Prins Henrik “Cantabile”, 2000 (illustrated with découpage works). National and Family Bible, 2000 (vignettes); “Snedronningen. Et eventyr af H.C. Andersen” and “The Snow Queen. A fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen”, both 2000 (découpage works); Karen Blixen: “Syv fantastiske fortællinger” and “Seven Gothic Tales”, both 2003 (découpage works).
it also mentions she did other artistic work: The Danish Monarchy - The Royal House - HM The Queen

does anyone have any pictures of her work?

One of The Queen's works just sold recently, in September, on the website Lauritz.com. It sold for 265,000 kroner.
