Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik's State Visit to China: April 24-28, 2014

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
The bussiness section of the newpaper Berlinske, has an article about the Regent Couple's visit to China. Dronningen til Kina med historisk stort følge - Global | www.business.dk
It's nothing short of a full frontal commercial offensive, with a recod number of Danish buinesses being represented and no less than four ministers accompanying them.
161 businesses are represented. When the Regent Couple went to China in 1979, as the first royal heads of states ever on a statevisit, 16 companies went with them.

One of the things DK export to China are retirement homes. From the drawing board, to the construction phase, educationg the staff, suppliying furnitures and equipment, using Danish principles in dealing and stimulating the elderly and finally handing over the keys.
Kindergartens and nurseries are expected to be next on the list of export to China. Again as complete packages.
I should be very surprised if the Free From Bullying concept would not be a part of that as well.

A Very packed schedule for the royal couple :flowers:

:previous: Thanks, Iceflower.

As the visit is the largest commercial offensive ever by DK in connection with a staevisit, the serious business papers like Jyllands Posten, Børsen and Berlingske are in particular covering this visit.

And also the serious business.dk
which brings a number of very informative background articles: Kineserne skal lære at spise dansk ost - Fødevarer | www.business.dk

China has become a huge importer og milk, not least European milk, because that means quality and safety. There has been a number of scandals recently in China in regards to milk being in some cases fatal to drink! So the milk producers here in DK are smiling broadly :D
But as DK is also very much a dairy producing country one of the goals of the visit is to get the Chinese hooked on cheese. Apparantly that's not something they do a lot - yet. But it's not cheese as we are used to here in DK! The cheese exported to China will very likely be with fruit flavour! - Whatever, as long as they buy - and who knows? It may catch on here as well...

And here is a gallery from the Regent Couples first statevisit to China back in 1979, incidentally as the first royals ever: Dronningens Kina-rejse i 1979 | www.business.dk

A BT gallery of the Regent Couple's visit to China: Se billederne: Her får dronning Margrethe sin egen grimme ælling | www.bt.dk

It's a pretty hard schedule for someone their age.

In pics 1 & 2. QMII is presented with an ugly duckling in Lego.

Pic 7: A Danish dance troupe entertained. Appropriately wearing fur. The export of fur to the Cinese market is going very well, thank you.

in pics 5 & 6: QMII and the Chinese First Lady read aloud from a fairy tale by H.C: Andersen. His fairlytales were mandatory in Chinese schools also back in genuine Communist times, as his tales were interpreted to be appropriately Marxist.

Pic 12: In specting the honor guard. The colour guard are from all three branches of the military, the colourbearer being flanked by two colourguards holding very much parade AK-47's.
The other rifles are SKS, which are much better suited for parade ground drill than modern assault rifles.

Pic 21: The Chinese copied the Soviet Style marching and indeed uniforms. The thick cord around their left shoulders indentify them as a guards unit.

Thank you, Muhler :flowers:

I've noticed that the above posted gettyimages/zimbio gallery has been updated with pics from today, April 25, so I guess the link will be updated each day and is worth looking at again. And as usual the gallery from kongehuset.dk will be updated as well!

thank you for the links and pics.
the visit is busy to say the least.

the pictures are wonderful, especially from their first visit in 1979

We have some pretty unusual pictures here in this BT gallery from China: Hold så op! Her sætter vred Margrethe kinesere på plads | www.bt.dk

A visibly annoyed QMII!

According to the correspondet from the serious newpaper Berlingske, it all happened when QMII was visiting some Ming dynasty graves outside Beijing. QMII was decending some stairs when her security got too close. So close actually that QMII could hardly see where she was going and apparantly got close to tripping.
At the bottom of the stairs an annoyed Queen shooed the security away.
Here is the sequence: http://a.bimg.dk/node-images/328/7/x2048-u/7328845-.jpg
http://b.bimg.dk/node-images/328/7/x2048-u/7328844-.jpg
http://b.bimg.dk/node-images/328/7/x2048-u/7328846-.jpg

Isn't it Lene Balleby in the background? With a somewhat worried expression.

Apart from that, QMII must have been looking very much forward to visiting the graves.

:previous:how unfortunate but lucky she did not fall.

Busy trip but the QUeen and henrik look happy to be there

It was BB reporter Annelise Weimann who went to China with the Regent Couple.

- Now, normally I would write a lengthy summary but there are so many things going on right now here in DK that I'll skip it this time.
I will however mention that the reporter noted that QMII clealy had problems with her back and also that she became visibly annoyed a couple of time, because Chinese security stood in her way. She couldn't see anything and she couldn't see where she was going.
QMII admitted at the press conference at the end of the visit that she had had problems with her back.

I think we are getting to the end of the line for statevisits for the Regent Couple. PH is turning eighty and QMII had to lean against all sorts of things.

Instead of a summary here is the BB coverage. Some of the pics speak for themselves.

From the pictures it looks like they had a great time, but the Queen did look a bit tired.

And i think you are right, regarding State Visits. We have already seen Frederik and Mary take on more and more visits. I just think this is a country both wanted to really go to again.
