There was a rumour in the dutch press that Maxima had a fight with photographers on this market. Apparently it is not true, but they were annoyed as some photogaphers were so 'agressive' that they almost demolished a small shop to get better pictures of the royal couple. The shop was financed by th UN microcredit fund, of which Maxima is an advisor, so she was appaled. After the visit the shopowner received the card of the office of Prince and Princess of Orange and a request to contact them if his shop suffored any financial damage during this visit.

That's really kind of them.

I don't think that would be the case. Morocco has a booming tourism industry so I think the residents of Marrakesh are used to seeing a woman's knees.

I loved Maxima's hair, earrings and top for this event. very elegant! and very appropriate to the setting.

but those pants... when will Maxima wake up and realize that that style of pants is uniquely unflattering to her figure???

Thanks everyone for the wonderful pics!!!! Máxima looks great! Can't wait to see her and all her family at Alexia's chrsitening!

these photos are wonderful! thanks so much for posting them. wow. grey tweed. Maxima is sporting a more "serious" look today than during the rest of this trip. I really like it though. this outfit flatters her and its a nice change.

beside visiting local craftsmen, they also visited girls' boarding school

thanks so much for the photos! those sunglasses are wonderful. they remind me of pre-engagement Maxima tabloid photos.(sigh) we didnt know all the good things that would be coming...

i loved the warmth that could be seen in the state visit. the detail of the bracelet they gave to maxima, them meeting those young people, the princes seein the people working and all wi a big smile on their faces. even the sweets were sweet :) and a clear action of hospitality and warmth from the moroccan people.

maxima looks great with sunglasses. they make her seem younger.

oh believe me they are used to it, you should see what moroccan girls wear, morocco is more open than other muslim countries. young women there wear strapless shirts and mini skirts like in any european or american country, they also wear bikinis at the beach.(and i should know . it's my country.:) )

Thank you imane and everyone else who responded to my question. I come from India, and whenever I visit I dress Indian or at least conservative western slothes. Some parts of India, like Bombay, are very progressive, and I have seen tourists dress in shorts, etc. But I know I would feel uncomfortable myself, and not recommend to any women visiting, wearing short skirts, shorts, etc. Certainly my family would find it inappropriate (while I'm in India). Maybe I come from a conservative family. Or we allow greater latitude to foreigners than to our own.

Anyway, thank you for clarifying the issue. And I'm sure the DRF would have checked for dress restrictions before arriving. And it's not like her skirts were really short anyway, I just didn't know if showing any knee was OK.

it seems that willem and maxima enjoyed a lot during their trip ^_^

indeed! it was the best of both worlds. it let them celebrate 400 years of relations between NL and Morrocco and Maxima got to work on Microfinance and WA got to work on Watermanagement.

everybody wins.

PRINCESS MAXIMA AND LALLA SALMA ON FINE FORM IN MOROCCO

Crown Princess Maxima certainly seemed to be enjoying herself as she continued her tour of Morocco with husband Willem-Alexander this week. Laughing heartily as she shared a joke with some young people in the provincial town of Amizmiz.......

gorgeous! this has been a tour de force for maxima fashionwise.

All of Máxima's outfits came from Belgian fashion house Natan. All her shoes, jewels and small purses (not the larger bags) as well.

She looked stunning on every occasion!

I like all the clothes that CP Maxima wears for this trip.My only complaint is her hair. It's a bit untidy and doesn't suit her .She looks older in this hairstyle.
