TelQuel : Le Maroc tel qu'il est
The diplomatic mission of Lalla Joumala strong starts: the cousin of Mohammed VI, Morocco's new ambassador to Britain was entitled to preferential treatment. Unlike the British diplomatic usage, she was received in London by Queen Elizabeth herself. A ceremony at the Palace of Birmingham has been organized for the occasion in order to perpetuate the friendship between the two royal families.

:previous:
Not quite accurate. Queen Elizabeth receives all Ambassadors and High Commissioners presenting their credentials; it is one of her duties as Head of State.
Formally, they are "Ambassadors to the Court of St James's" [the Royal Court] although in reality they are ambassadors to Britain.
The Queen usually receives Ambassadors at Buckingham Palace.

thanks for the clarification Warren:flowers:
they must be mistaken in Telquel.

thanks for the clarification, tel quel is completely gaga when he speaks about morrocan princesses:rolleyes:, example the arabic version (nichane), at the time of arabe ladies meeting this year, said that lalla salma was the only one first lady received in private by the first lady of UAE, that was false, since asma el assad was also

yes i remember reading that and something similar about salma meeting with a thai princess when she was in thailand. i don't see really the point from saying "she is the only one ..." it's really funny :alien:

even in most democratic countries in the world, ambassadors positions are given sometimes to friends who don't have much knowledge on diplomacy or foreign affaires. of course it depends of the country where this ambassador is sent to. i don't think joumala could be appointed in latin america or africa .. or to UN ;) also we don't hear a lot of ambassador position given to one of the relatives. but since it's the case (she is m6 cousin) so she must have extraodinary qualifications. does anyone know what are joumala' qualifications, studies, interests .. etc?

here a small Biography for Lalla Joumala
translation:
Degree in History and Political Science from the Faculty of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, Chrifa Joumala Lalla was born in Rabat in 1962.
In 2004, this mother of two children set up the chair of His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco and Mediterranean Studies at St Anthony's College, which depends on the University of Oxford.
In 2001, she led the Moroccan delegation to the session on HIV / AIDS of the UN.
Chrifa Alaoui Lalla Joumala is appointed Ambassador of Morocco to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in 2009.

thanks shrifia for the links. i read somewhere that history and georgraphy are part of major programs teached in the moroccan royal schools. it's nice to see a member of the MRF continues her studies after "baccalaureate". but i wonder which degree she has, bachelor, master or doctorate?

so apart from oxford in 2004, Un in 2001 and participate with m6' sisters on some events, what she was doing like every day' work or interest? to me these two dates (2001 and all year of 2004) doesn't show she had busy schedules. plus, saying that "in 2001, she led the Moroccan delegation to the session on HIV / AIDS of the UN" i doubt if this is necessary to be included as her qualifications or achievements. that was a trip. i never heard of her work or interest on HIV/AIDS in morocco or elsewhere. but you know the palace and moroccan' media, they like to add these trips to the MRF members' biographies ;)

British Moroccan Society climbs Jebel Toukbal for charity
....In this respect Benedicte Clarkson emphasised the importance of the recent appointment of H.H. Princess Lalla Joumala Aloui as Morocco's Ambassador in the UK and that she is also the President of the Moroccan Britrish Society in Morocco which has a leading role in promoting culture and religious understanding in the Kingdom through major exhibitions such as "Sacred ". A greater contact between the BMS and the MBS will undoubtedly help to promote greater cultural exchanges between Morocco and the United Kingdom. The Ambassador was recently invited to address a high level event at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office which was very successful. This promises to be an exciting period in developing increased contact between the two countries.....

Opening in London of an exhibition of visual arts on Morocco...Article in french
translation
The opening of an exhibition of visual arts in Morocco took place Wednesday evening at the famous Mathaf Gallery in London on "Travel in the Middle East", in the presence of several personalities from the worlds of arts, culture, media and politics.
Morocco's ambassador to Britain, Chrifa Joumala Alaoui Lalla, who opened the exhibition by British artist Tim Scott Bolton, stressed that the work of the latter reflects the diversity of Morocco, the intensity of its lights, rich colors and the welcoming atmosphere of the landscape.
The ambassador recalled that the extraordinary landscapes of Morocco have been the source of great inspiration for many famous painters such as Delacroix, Matisse, Majorelle and the former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill.
The latter devoted a great love in Morocco for its serenity, its calm and its colorful, she said.
The exhibition will last until June 26, takes the visitor on an unusual journey through the magical landscape of Morocco, the Kasbah of the Atlas, through the Moroccan desert, to the citadels of Essaouira and its fishermen and imperial city of Marrakech with its masterly Koutoubia minaret.
"Morocco, by the richness of its culture and civilization, has always been a source of inspiration for artists," said the MAP Scott Bolton, noting that the diversity of the natural landscape provides a Moroccan dimension to the country as a subject in Âœuvres several world-renowned painters.
Besides Morocco, the exhibition includes paintings by the same artist, inspired by visits to other Arab countries like Egypt, Jordan and Oman.

HH Princess Lalla Joumala Alaoui
Her Highness Princess Lalla Joumala already knew the UK very well when she arrived here with her husband on 10 February 2009 – she had previously visited the UK on a regular basis as a youngster and, after completing her secondary education at a French-speaking school in Morocco, also studied Politics and History at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London.
