Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia of Spain's Visit to Morocco: October 30, 2007

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
that's not the same top she wore last time, it's a different one ;)
sometimes, she's a bit monochromatic when it comes to clothing: all black, all blue, all pink, etc
something in a different color would have suited the skirt (awesome one) much better

This top is a more elegant choice but anything that helps hiding her terribly skinny arms would look even better. And I love the skirt but still - why always go in the same colour. Overall in pink she looks like a cracker  and the hair is as usually unstyled. Lalla Meriem's dress is fab, hair, jewellery ... I am still waiting for a gala event where Letizia turns up equally dressed and styled compared to either Queen Sofia & Infantas or foreign royalty.

Good to see another institute has opened. It shows that there is a special commitment by the princes for this cause. Letizia's combination at the opening is repeated, I was not too fond of it back then and I still find it a bit mismatched. Hair is ok for the opening but too bad a hair dresser wasn't around in the evening.

Gala dinner: her top looks better than last time she wore it, but the skirt too long maybe!
She would had look better with a shorter skirt and with a different colour!
Her first outfit looks nice

i preferred the dress with the previous top.. :)

what a shame the king and lalla salma were not present. considering the good relations between the royal families, i thought most of them would be present at the dinner.

what a lovely tradition to greet guests with milk and dates! ANP Beeldbank i think they did the same when willem-alexander and maxima went on official visit. during the dutch visit, lalla salma joined maxima for a private meeting, we only got a picture of them together, so i find it strange that this time they didn't meet her or the king.

The visit of the Princes to Morocco has been very rapid, they have done many things in a little time. Probably in a more extensive visit if they had met the King and Lalla Salma.
They came to Marrakech at 5 p.m. and after the dinner they returned to Spain. The coincidence with the inauguration of the Prado Museum, today Leonor's birthday and surely the problems of security have turned it into a trip "express".

totally. what a shame though! i would have loved to see the moroccan royal couple with the asturias. they have been quite busy lately, so it's understandable!

I like Letizia dress and lalla meryem Caftan the colour is so beautiful:flowers
nice pic from the arrival

Don't tell me that letizia looks great in this photo http://img521.imageshack.us/img521/44/qyoj2gnjtm2jb2mmhjmtnl7.jpg she looks like she is suffering from extremely thiness!
i agre with you she is so skinny and this is way she does not look good at all i wish she gain some weight maybe she will looks better, and to be honest i don't like how she looks altought i think she is elegant woman,i prefer more Maxima Mary or Mette-Marit who looks more normal and real women.

A pity the trip was so short, would have loved to see them in natural surroundings out and about in the markets etc. wouldn't mind to eat some of those dates myself as they are the yummiest ever. Love Letizia in the outfit at the gala dinner just wish the Prince would match his tie at least to Letizia's outfit.

I agree with you, she is very thin ... but don´t insinuate that she is SUFFER something because this is a very boring topic.
She looks better with more weight, this is true, ... but we already know that you think that Letizia is extremely thin and it is not necessary to repeat it again and again and again and again and..............:sick:
Once again you are very alarmist!

Thanks Ladyfinn, the photo has a very good quality!
Too much make up for Lalla Meryem!

i totally agree, she doesn't look that great and imo she should gain some more weight, but the topic has been discussed so much! i'm sure she already knows most people think she needs to gain weight, but if she didn't do it already is perhaps she doesn't want to. many people have said she eats well, so there's nothing unhealthy about it.

after commenting this and a bit offtopic, i need to say i personally find astonishing the amount of people who complain about thinness and anorexia, when there are far more problems for obese people, and that's not as badly seen as anorexia is.

Looks like a "normal" livingroom - a priviliged one but still a living room, including a TV. Maybe after dinner they lolled on the couch and watched some sports. Letizia has learned from her unfortunate capture, no elbow on the table this time ;)

I love the skirt, but I think it would look so much better with a top that wasn't the same color--maybe black or midnight-blue? Something simple, since the skirt is so 'complicated' with its bright color and the tiers.

The difference is that one was a posed-for-camera picture, the other was a snap shot during the speech.

Maybe that was suppose to be an informal dinner for them to have a normal chat!

D o M, It's because the Princess of Asturias is reading all day long your lesson of of know how and because Leonor with her money received for her birthday had baught to her mother the Baedeker: " how has to be settlle up at the table when we aren't princess of blood!"

Anyone has a picture of her elbow clearly on the table like the picture of Telma and Cristina ? By looking at this picture again, with her pose, she could as well hold her elbow with her left hand (I saw people do this pose all the time).

Not clearly, strange posture, quiet poetic, let's go to the dream and so on... but nobody has the total cliché, is the reason why everybody can tell, what a shame elbow...may be on the table! The Princess of Asturis is not relaxed, with her elbows upon the table, she is losted in her mind with her elbow may be hold by her left hand. Great theory for an original and so beautifull shot, that's all! Yes but what a naughty girl!!:D

Yes, it was an informal dinner, but it was pretty much expected that Lalla Meryem would wear her grand caftan, thus Letizia should have have worn a better quality evening gown, such as this red gown from Lorenzo Caprile.

http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/1854/6400bebfrf2.jpg

This is true. Letizia has some high quality gowns or pieces of clothing, not only by Caprile, that look so much better as they are much better fitted and of much better fabric than the "cheap" (= low quality and not well fitted) stuff she has been wearing these days. It shows, especially when Lalla Meriem is wearing her grand caftan or Queen Sofia her Oscar de la Renta outfit next to her. I have nothing against Zara or Mango but it's not what I imagine a Princess should wear at a high profile event.

I wonder where all the Caprile pieces have gone and why Letizia doesn't recycle them (not only this red dress but also the elegant jackets she wore at the danish wedding in 2004 or the Pascuar Militar in 2005) instead of buying new low quality stuff for high profile events that make her look second class next to other royalty.

I'm a little surprise by your opinion about both the grand caftan of the Princess Lalla Meriem and the Princess of Asturias 's gown because as you are a great observor, and you are, it was not a high profile event.

First of all it's not a visit of State - neither the Prince of Asturias nor the Prince Moulay Hassan are... Cheifs of State or in representation of Chief of State. The Institut cervantes' opening belongs by devolution to the Prince of Asturias. As isen't an institutional devolution but an empiric one, the Prince isn't doing as a direct represant of the King but as quiet a "chief" of a department which are the Instituts of Cervantes

Then neither the Prince Moulay Hassan nor the Prince of Asturias are in smoking, but only in dark suit with white shirt.

Then too, I'm not a great specialist of "grand caftan" but if you are watching of true " grand caftan" of ceremony or all the others great institutional events of the monarchic and politic life of the Maroco, you can see exactly what is a "grand caftan". It's not only a long, large and silked specific maroco gown, it's also an estupendous using of golden embroided tissu, with very rich design and heavy golden figures, used of tissu as brocard, damas the whole with a golden embroiedment.

The caftan worn by the Princess Lalla Meriem, is a beatiful one, belongs may be to the category " grand caftan" but not to "grand caftan" of important ceremony. The best proof: do you think that a great event has to take place in the little dining room of a Palace, even if it's a Real Palace?

To end,the gown wore by the Princess of Asturias is must than pretty good, it's totally according with the item, the place and the rank of the ceremony. More, I find this gown giving a young night style for the Princess very sympathetic for a kind of event where you have five minutes to wear you, just after the inauguration of the Institute. Obviously I don't see why the Princess of Asturias would be wear a gown of the same style- in velvet!!!!- as this one wore for the reception by the Kings and the government of the " corps diplomatic" which is of very superior rank than the maroco's reception, it's absolutly obvious. But a you say with so relevancy : " IMO"!!!

Sorry I think I switched a bit between events therefore my post was not so clear.

1. Marrakesh - agree, no high profile event. But given Lalla Meriem turned up in a lavish dress Letizia's appearance cannot match (= agree with donnaK who said a better quality evening dress would have been more appropriate).

2. Other high profile events (eg National Day, Favourite Daughter, Gala dinner El Pardo & State dinner) - in my opinion it's not enough for a royal lady to turn up on such events in Varela, Zara or Mango. Nothing against these labels, they do beautiful clothes - apart from Varela ;) - but it shows that almost everybody can afford them in terms of cut, fitting, quality of the fabric etc specially when Queen Sofia, the Infantas or foreign royalty or dignitaries wear designer or other high quality dresses. It became so obvious at El Pardo with Letizia in her ill fitting Varela jacket with huge shoulderpads and her cheap looking pregancy style gown standing next to Queen Sofia, very classy and sparkling in her Oscar de la Renta skirt.
