in every occasion national or religion King give pardon to selected prisoners it has been a tradition for so long and before even Mohammed VI come to the power Hassan II use to do it and Mohammed V also it's very ironic even annoying and irritating to link that to what happens to the region now...
it's sound to me that media always get confused by the events...shame.

King Mohammed VI of Morocco (R), followed by his brother Prince Moulay Rachid (L), arrive for a ceremony to mark the anniversary of his 1999 coronation at the Tetouan palace, northern Morocco, on July 31, 2011.
Mohammed VI proposed the reopening the country's 500-kilometre (310-mile) border with Algeria as the border region remains tense as a Moroccan border guard was killed last week during a clash with gunmen trying to enter from Algeria. Morocco closed the border following a 1994 Islamist militant attack in Marrakesh, which it blamed on Algeria's secret service.
