A very interesting article:

Princess to Saudi elite: Let my gender drive

One of Saudi royals calls for change in policy of kingdom’s ruling family

Updated: 2 hours, 6 minutes ago
DAVOS, Switzerland - The most prominent princess in Saudi Arabia’s royal family said Thursday that if she could change one thing about her country, she would let women drive — a rare and direct challenge to the driving ban imposed by the kingdom’s ruling male elite.

Prince Turki meeting Jewish leader in Washington (Photo: www.col.org.il )

The most evident sign of rapprochement came in the form of the attendance of Saudi Arabia's outgoing ambassador to the US to a ceremony in Washington held by American Jewish organizations in honor of a State Department official appointed to fight anti-Semitism.
William Daroff of the United Jewish Communities told USA Today that Prince Turki al-Faisal's presence at the reception was "unprecedented."

Well, I guess the news is that they are only #7 this year instead of 5!
PARADE’s Annual List Of...The World’s 10 Worst Dictators
7) King Abdullah, Saudi Arabia. Age 82. In power since 1995. Last year’s rank: 5

Although Abdullah did not become king until 2005, he has ruled Saudi Arabia since his half-brother, Fahd, suffered a stroke 10 years earlier. In Saudi Arabia, phone calls are recorded and mobile phones with cameras are banned. It is illegal for public employees “to engage in dialogue with local and foreign media.” By law, all Saudi citizens must be Muslims. According to Amnesty International, police in Saudi Arabia routinely use torture to extract “confessions.” Saudi women may not appear in public with a man who isn’t a relative, must cover their bodies and faces in public and may not drive. The strict suppression of women is not voluntary, and Saudi women who would like to live a freer life are not allowed to do so.

Saudi king declines visit from Iraq's prime minister Sun Apr 29, 4:03 PM ET

Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah has turned down a request to meet with Iraq's Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, Baghdad's foreign minister said Sunday, denying, however, that the refusal was an outright snub.
On Sunday, The Washington Post reported Abdullah had refused to receive Maliki before a regional summit on Iraq security set for next week because the Sunni leader was skeptical of Maliki's Shiite government.
Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, however, said the newspaper report was "not true," although he acknowledged a requested visit had been denied.
"This time the Saudi king, his schedule was not suitable for this timing," Zebari told CNN.
"So they did not decline it, but they said the king has an internal tour which he does every now and again. So we couldn't agree on the timing," he said, speaking in Baghdad.
The apparent snub comes as Saudi Arabia, long a US ally in the Middle East, has been increasing critical of the US-backed Iraqi government. Saudi king declines visit from Iraq's prime minister - Yahoo! News
