Hi, I have a question, is there a Sheikh of the Al Nahyan family, who's married a woman outside of tribes? from what Ive seen I only saw they married cousins or "elite tribal" family members, is this true?

or do they have there second and third wives, they keep more low key?

The Al Nahyans are more closely linked to traditions. Mostly they are married with family members or members from other ruling families or influential tribes. The first, second, third or fourth wives will not being mentioned publicly, especially if they are keep more low key or non-Emirati. Just one example: The late Shaikh Nasser bin Zayed had a non-Emirati wife. This became only known following his death in 2008. In principle wives belong to the privacy of a man and information about them should not being mentioned publicly if there is no compelling reason for that.

and Shaikh Abdelaziz bin Saud bin Khalid Al Qasimi married the daughter of Shaikh Tahnoun bin Saeed bin Shakhbout Al Nahyan.

Shaikha Yazyeh bint Saif bin Mohamed Al Nahyan, wife of Shaikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan (Foreign Minister of UAE), today attended the receiving of the Swedish Queen by Shaikha Fatima bint Mubarak at Al Bahr Palace Abu Dhabi.

The Queen was also received by Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan who hosted a lunch banquet in honour of the Queen of Sweden.

Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, attended on Thursday evening the funeral rites for Mohamed Khalaf Al Mazroui, Advisor of Culture and Heritage at the Diwan of His Highness the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, who died in an unfortunate accident that occurred this afternoon in the Western Region.

A number of other Shaikhs and senior state officials also attended the funeral.

Shaikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs yesterday attended the opening ceremony of Shaikh Zayed Heritage Festival 2014, held in Al Wathba under the theme "Heritage is our identity .. Zayed is our role model".

The festival is running from 20th November through 12th December and is being held under the patronage of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The opening ceremony was also attended by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, and Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan.

Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development attend the two-day 4th International Seminar on Interfaith Harmony and Tolerance, in Malyaisan capital Kuala Lumpur, which started today.

The Ministry is organising the event along with International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and other partners as part of World Interfaith Harmony Week, an annual event to be observed during the first week of February starting in 2011.
