Abu Dhabi: HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
It´s rather funny that she´s acting like a Queen sometimes...and not even the Emir is willing to try to stop her.

She´s formidable still...

Uae is not a kingdom so,she isn't a queen.:) She is the First Lady.
Emir doesn't stop her.She always does great works. You can see articles about her.Between lots of Emirati people adore her because she's the first lady & she always does great works.:)

why is she stii the first lady?turkish delight i cant seem to understand.how come Sheikh Kalifah's wife is not seen as the new first lady after all the good old sheikh Zayed(may God rest him)has passed on.i dont understand. And also how come i dont hear of Sheikh Kalifah's wife? please do enlighten me.

You are misunderstanding Sheikha Fatima's role. In virtually all of the news links in this thread she is not acting as the "First Lady" of Abu Dhabi; she is instead Chairperson of the UAE Women's Federation (also referred to as the UAE General Women's Union), Supreme Chairperson of the Family Development Foundation and Chairwoman of the Arab Women's Organisation. So you can see that her interests and activities lie with women's issues in the UAE as a whole and more generally across the Arab world. This is the reason the thread header states "Abu Dhabi and UAE".

In some of the news links she is referred to as "The Mother of the Nation", a title of respect accorded to her as the wife of the late Sheikh Zayed in his role as founding President of the United Arab Emirates.

In a recent article published on Newsweek.com, Cherie Blair, wife of former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and founder of the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women, singles out Shaikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the ‘Mother of the Nation’, as having spearheaded universal education for women in the UAE in the 1970s. Blair goes on to note that, thanks to leading examples such as Shaikha Fatima and the women she inspired, the UAE has the best ranking out of 136 countries for the ratio of girls to boys in education, according to a report by the World Economic Forum.
