What is inbreeding then? They are marrying to close relatives since years and years ago. What is the difference?
Marrying close relatives such as cousins is permissible in Islam. But there are certain people Muslims cannot marry such as their own parents, siblings, children, paternal and maternal aunts and uncles, siblings’ children. Those are some of the examples but cousins are not considered in that religious clause in Islam and are allowed to be married to. Also, just like to add that a blood test is usually carried out for couples whether cousins or not before the marriage is allowed to take place in the UAE.
