Dazzling, please excuse my ignorance, but accept my willingness to learn about your culture especially royal marriages in your part of the world. Why all the secrecy on the Brides identity? Please enlighten us....

I don't see it as no secrecy, they bride's name is mentioned on the women's invitation, people start learning about who she is from the day of the engagement.
Do you mean on the news? It's because they only show the mens celebration & when they would refer to the bride they would say " the daughter of XXXXX"
There is no secrecy unless I'm missing something

lol, it just seems strange. Why not name her and then follow with "daughter of X"? What is the reasoning behind this custom?

I know that you found this very strange. But you feel it so because you do not know such an approach. For us this is normal.
As I mentioned earlier, the bride and groom celebrate their wedding separated from each other. The husband is celebrating with the men, the wife celebrating this special day with the invited women. At the latest at the ceremony, the invited female guests will know who is the bride. And the ladies get to see the bride and the ceremony also. The bride is not a mystery, whose name no one will ever know.
The reason behind this is custom, the bride and her reputation to preserve and protect her from "evil eye" and the envy of others. The woman usually experiences in our Emirati tradition in high esteem. It is not the desire of many women to present themselves in public. They represent the interests of the family inside, the man outside. The man is practically the foreign minister and the wife is the Interior Minister. And together the both form a government of their own family. Decisions are taken collectively in the family, but the men share these decisions with the public alone. At least if they are actually meant for the public.

I don´t know. But in summer the holy month of Ramadan starts. An unusual time for a wedding. Usually weddings take place here are rare in the hottest time of the year. Perhaps we should follow the advice of Sheikha Sheikha and wait for the summer......

no it could be it is very normal for weddings to be in the summer.
ramadan is july 20th, so the wedding could be shawal (eid) so that would be Aug.
it could be,why not

I'm sure the family of al Maktoum want to celebrate the wedding of crownprince HH Sheikh Hamdan with other members of the ruling families. Dubais upper class, including parts of the members of the ruling families, spends the summertime abroad and not in Dubai often. Therefore, a wedding would be in the summer, especially in the upper classes rather unusual. Unusual does not mean that it is impossible. In my personal opinion, I think a wedding after Ramadan is more likely.
When the time is right for marriage, then the wedding will take place.

thats what i said! Shawaal is after ramadan!
and if a wedding was set the upper class and royal famillies would be notified in enough time for them to make plans to come back for the wedding then fly away for the rest of the summer

Šhawwāl, شوال is the islamic month after the holy month of Ramadan. Are you sure that all know here in the forum what Šhawwāl is? Or what you mean with (Eid). My intention was to explain it easy for all. Otherwise, in the end someone comes and says: Oh, HH Sheikh Hamdan also married a girl named Shawwal Eid. This is because someone in the forum could not understand correctly what you mean by "Shawwal (eid)". I hope you do not understand me fundamentally wrong. I appreciate you very much. My greatest respect for you.

The courtesy due respects to the habits of others. This is also true when planning a wedding. If you have waited years for the right time to marry, 4 weeks or 2 months is not decisive. Or not?
Unless one has it suddenly in a hurry! I do not think that's the case by HH Sheikh Hamdan. But all what I said is my own opinion . All of us here can not really know which way the al Maktoum familiy have planned for the wedding and what the reason is, to do it in this year or in summer.
