I'm not trying to go off topic but is someone missing from the group?
I thought CPW-A had another sister or brother or something?

He has another brother, Prince Johan-Frisco. I suppose he wasn't there because he's not a member of the Royal House anymore. :(
I didn't get a chance to comment last night, but I really liked Beatrix's outfit. I think it would be nicer without the cape, but the color was really pretty and it was very flattering. Now the hat of feathers she was wearing on top of her head...that's another story.
I also thought Maxima looked lovely. I'm not a big hat person, and in general don't like them very much, but I really liked the one she had on! Her outfit was lovely as well and very flattering. That color looks really nice on her.
Laurentien has really had a horribly bad streak in the outfit department lately and this was no exception. Her hat reminds me of the flying saucer that Marilene owns.
Overall, it seems as if everyone had a great time yesterday! Thanks to everyone who posted pictures. :)

I was just talking about Beatrix' hat earlier that day with a friend (Prinsjesdag is always such a nice oppurtunity for discussing royal fashion!) and she said: 'Well, they shot Big Bird for that hat, did you know that?'
That was funny enough, especially when you know that Big Bird (of Sesame Street) is blue (and not yellow) here in Holland. Don't know why, by the way...

Well, I was going for peacock, but Big Bird works. :p That made me giggle though.
I didn't know that Big Bird was blue in Holland by the way. I thought he was universally yellow. I'm going to add that one to my collection of useless tidbits of knowledge and go on Jeopardy.

I have just come back from the Netherlands where, for the second year running, I was able to see the procession for Prinsjesdag. This year I was able to get in front of the palace for the balcony appearance. Can anyone tell me what the song was that the people sang to the Queen?

Maxima looks lovely! Laurentien on the other hand, I used to think that she was innovative, now I think she is taking some of her outfits way over the top.

Sometimes I question what Laurentien is thinking when she picks her clothes. Such a grand occasion and Laurentien's outfit is so busy it's practically dizzying. I wonder what Constantijn must think of his wife's choice of clothing.
I have never thought much of the Prince of Orange physically. But in the balcony pictures waving and smiling and laughing with his wife, the prince looks very handsome. Life with Maxima and their daughters must agree with him.

Probably 'Oranje Boven'. It is not realy a song, but 2 sentences: Oranje Boven, oranje boven. Leve de koningin -Orange up/above, Orange up, Long live the Queen. Sometimes people added after 'Leve de Koningin'.. 'en Prins Claus!'
The song is old, sung in the early days of Wilhelmina's days already to show support of the monarchy.

Thank you very much Marengo. That is what was being sung.

liked what maxima wore, someone said she looked a bit casual, that is the dutch way, thought she still looked like a princess.
am mesmerised by margriets pearl earrings, they must be pre the age of cultivated pearls and think it would be very difficult to find 2 pearls like that by chance.
laurentine looked nice except for her sound of music waistcoat in tweed or boucle, do not know what that material is called and it is not so much the saucer on her head but the bucket shaped hat in the same material as the waitcoat that is not pretty.

Did people seriosuly yell "en Prins Claus" or was that just an example of how they yelled a few years ago? :(

I meant, sometimes IN THE PAST people yelled 'en Prins Claus', not anymore! Sorry for the mistake, it gives a rather strange impression indeed.
