I love that Prince Bernhard and Princess Annette are wearing matching outfits.

I didn't like Maxima's clothes at all, she looked like an old woman with that coat. The other princesses looked more dressed to mingle with the crowd. I like what Mabel was wearing, and her behaviour was very open en very nice.

The photos of Pieter and Margriet kissing are so sweet - I love to see that with the older generation! (But I thought Lucien had said the van Vollenhovens couldn't make it this year?)

I didn't went out today due to weather and traffic but I was in the city during Koninginnenacht (Qeensnight). And the amount of garbage is crazy.

Pieter and Margriet left half way the programme in Middelburg, as they went to the funeral of count carl friedrich of Lowenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg too.
Prince Bernhard and prince Pieter-Christiaan skipped part of the programme in Middelburg as there were horses involved, to which they are alergic.
In her speech in Middelburg the Queen thanked everybody for being so enthousiastic this year. She said ' you gave us back Queens Day'.
-
The security was more strict than in previous years. There were a lot of bodyguards. At various locations a limited number of people was allowed to be present. There were snipers, etc. Apparently 1400 police(wo)men were involved this year and 100's of extra security staff. The extra security was a bit too enthousiastic as they started frisking people. On the news they showed that they were even frisking a woman in a wheel chair. The mayor of Wemeldinge said that this was NOT what they were supposed to do.
-
Queens Day in Amsterdam ended in a total chaos on the train stations. Apparently in several trains people used the emergency break, which made the trains stop. As some people were anoyed that they had to wait, they forced the doors of the trains and started walking on the rails. As a consequence all trains from and to Amsterdam were stopped. Let's hope that they will get them driving before the 100.000's who are in the city now want to go home.
Like Merel says, in several cities the garbage men are on strike, which is indeed rather dirty.

This question gets asked nearly every time a photo of her is published somewhere, and it was taken at an event of some kind. Her outfit, if you can call it that, appears to be a charcoal gray jumpsuit, with platform pumps. Here's a better picture of it --> http://www.ppe-agency.com/500px/Apr2...E100430125.jpg
Not quite sure why she chose to wear it, but Mabel marches to the beat of her own drummer.
Laurentien, on the other hand.....doesn't look much better. She appears to have a doily stuck to her head and then glued to her throat. http://www.ppe-agency.com/500px/Apr2...E100430104.jpg
I don't know, maybe it was a costume party and we all had no clue.

I've never heard of a horse allergy - how unusual! But I suppose you can be allergic to any animal with fur/hair.
The horses involved look quite large to me...these here look as though they could EAT Beatrix. [DNF] Fotoarchief Denieuwsfoto

Happy Queensday everyone.
My husband and I had a great day visiting the flea-markets, always the best part of Queensday.
Very sad to see the pictures of yesterdays memorial service. Poor Princes' Maximá and Marilene. Especially Marilene.

Someone get that poor woman a stylist who is not blind.

Well, she just keeps buying her clothes from Viktor & Rolf. This suit is no exception. Indeed not a very fortunate outfit, and I believe the first time that a royal lady is wearing trousers during Queens Day. The plateau heels seem to be in fashion too, I see a lot of them in shops here. Mabel was able to dance with them and even play soccer...

According to the press, princess Marilene is the godmother of one of his children.

I am living next to a flea market, cafe etc. So the noise is horrible. It seems the party is going on in my living room (which is not the case). It doesn't seem to be too busy on th canals though, but maybe I am not on the busy part. To my surprise I can actually ride my bicycle on various parts.
Happy Queens Day to everybody here too btw.
