State Visit from Belgium to The Netherlands: November 28-30, 2016

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Our King and our Queen wearing the greatest Dutch Order are perfect but unconfortable. Super sparkle and soft sparkle .No warm State Visit as during Queen Beatrix Reign !

Mathilde looked SENSATIONAL in her gala outfit, every inch the Queen she is.
Philippe handsome as usual but in white tie he makes me want to ask for a fan :D
I am not a fan of what Máxima was wearing in the gala but her jewelry was on point as usual ;)

The King had warm words for Princess Beatrix, expecially about her relationship with his beloved uncle King Baudouin.

"Your Royal Highness, you know how grateful we are to you, not only for your friendship with my uncle, King Baudouin, and with my father, but also for the support you have offered to us in the years gone." (No idea what King Philippe meant with that).

And during the toast: "There is an already longer friendship between our families, also thanks to you, Princess Beatrix."

ANP Press: "Monday evening the Citizens' Hall in the Royal Palace eyed like a fairytale. The best and the biggest golden tablepieces were placed, beautiful purple orchids gave colour to the tables. As an insider admitted: "For good friends, you take everything out of the shelves" (meaning: exert oneself to the outmost).

Don't think it's been mentioned yet, but as part of the visit both countries signed an agreement to make a correction to the joint border between them
http://nos.nl/artikel/2145414-filip-komt-nederland-stukje-belgie-brengen.html
This was done because of practical reasons; the participants state that it might be a unique fact in Europe that two countries change their borders without a war :flowers:

google translated

Thought it was a fun fact to mention here: amongst all the dresses, tiaras and fancy hats

fantastic pictures this visit has given us so far! i love seeing these 2 couples together, they truly seem to like each other's company.

mathilde and maxima looked slightly tired this morning - i guess it must have been a late night after the banquet last night! :)

The red in her dress didn´t match the belgian purple sash at all!:ermm:

Prince Constantijn was not that happy. Princess Laurentien great !
Absolutely don't like the queen of the Netherlands green evening dress again too much!

The Queens's favourite couturier Edouard Vermeulen from Natan was present.

I'm confused, why is he there? I can understand if it was a Dutch state visit to Belgium. But why would Vermeulen travel to the Netherlands for a state visit banquet?! Very unusual.

The part us are confused by, I wpuldvthink he is referring to his own reign. Thanking Beatrix for her support to his uncle and his father during their longer reigns. But also to him and Mathilde during their own time on the throne, as short as it has been so far. Even if not queen still, he obviously finds some guidance in her.

On invitation of the King and Queen of the Netherlands. As usual during State Visits, businessmen, entrepreneurs, CEO's, athletes, artists, politicians, etc. with links between the two countries were invited for the State Banquet (and eventually the second event). Edouard Vermeulen of course is important to both Queens, but he also has a store in Maastricht, Limbourg (South of the Netherlands): picture and picture. Edouard Vermeulen has now recently expanded furtherer in the Netherlands with a new store in Amsterdam: picture and picture.

Beautiful photos from Robin Utrecht

Check out my STAATSBANKET STAASBEZOEK BELGIE AAN NEDERLAND gallery http://bit.ly/2gC2bqg

Robin is the best!!Together with Patrick van Katwijk they are the best Royalty et tout photographers we have!

Prince Constantijn was not that happy. Princess Laurentien great !

The green matched perfectly...and if she would wear a patatoe bag,she would still outshine all and everyone with ease and without especially being after that effect! She just radiates what others in simular positions lack, her abundant character.Love it.

@ Warttemberg:It did match really, the sash and the red in the dress, blended in perfectly!A pic is just that,a pic,but the reality was a stunning baffling appearance on all fronts by all present!

I thought sweet Filip to be a little absent minded at times, and lacking the enthousiasm and joy his Dutch counterpart showed throughout the visit. They are long time friends so it wasn't as if they"d met for the first time allthough Filip gave the impression he was holding back a bit.He certainly cleared up whenever he saw Princess Beatrix though,a long time family friend and confident as she is to many other RF's.But then the SC's are a special case and so is Belgium.:)

The Queens must have been freezing. The temperature was around 0 degrees celcius.

Very nice that they were using the royal waiting chamber of the Amsterdam central station and the royal train.

Just out of curiosity, did King Philippe deliver all his speeches during the state visit in Dutch or did he switch between Dutch and French ? How did he do on that front ?

Great to see the royal pavillion on Amsterdam Central Station and the royal train used! I hope this will become more regular during State Visits.

According to monarchie.be the King held three speeches:
- at the State Banquet in the Royal Palace
- at the Government Lunch in the Hall of Knights
- at the return event in the Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ
All three speeches were in Dutch.

I think the King and Queen of the Belgians will have been surprised by the warmth, enthusiasm and interest with which they were received. I think they will have returned to Belgium with a positive feel.

Why did King Philippe thanks for the many supports? Which ones ??

No idea. As young children Charlotte, Baudouin and Albert did enjoy summers in the Netherlands. But I have never heard about special friendships between the Belgian and Dutch royal family.

The King and Queen were welcomed by Baron and Baroness Samuel van Tuyll van Serooskeren née Jonkvrouw Edmée Röell at Heeze Castle: picture

This is Heeze Castle: picture

After a cosy tête-à-tête te royal couple ended their visit to the Netherlands: picture

I have seen pictures of the grand motor escorte of the Koninklijke Marechaussee driving up the alley to the castle with the royal limousines. It was an impressive sight. A detachement of the honorary escort of the Royal Netherlands Air Force was on the cour of the castle, while Marechaussees lined the red carpet. Pictures will follow.

Prince Constantijn was not that happy during the belgian State Visit.
