I am from Kentucky, we are known for our horses!!

Does anyone know if there is a peak performance period for horses? Like for humans, teens to 20's are often the best physical shape. Is there something similar for horses?

For experienced Riders:
In the Kentucky Derby (a very famous horse race in the US) most the ponys are around the age of 3 years, after that they are to old to compete. I believe that with the Kentucky Derby anything above age 4 will be labeled "slowly" or "extremely slowly". The peak can occur anywhere between the ages of 2 to 9, although most of horses achieve their peak before the age of 5.

Nonexperienced riders:
Most light horse breeds reach their peak at 7-12 years of age.

We have, locally, a family that rides with the hounds on their own hunting grounds, here in the state of Iowa. I recently saw photos of the group in red hunting uniforms, with white garments on their lower torsos. They had medals or something of that fashion. I knew a daughter of the family well, she wasn't in the photos, though. I was wondering, does Zara hunt fox with her family?

Hunting with hounds is now illegal thanks to the Bliar government but fox hunting continues in England. Not a single hunt has disbanded since the ban and the Royal family have been big supporters of the sport, including Zara.

I know that is really Zara, because of the facial expressions and her beautiful smile. Tell me, where is this game being played? My father's family was from Scotland, and I really feel that Scots are my faves (next to those from Wales), and if I was ever in England I would most likely favor some of these teams. I did play some football (soccer), but never rugby. Not because I am some kind of wuss, but because I was involved in tougher sports (mountaineering, Bicycle Motocross).

Golden girl Zara's delight over new Award

Gone are the days when Zara Phillips was known as the royal rebel, famous for her tongue studs and rowdy parties. These days Princess Anne's daughter has been hitting the headlines for all the right reasons.


Hot on the heels of her triumph at last month's European Championships, the 24-year-old was again picking up an award for her outstanding riding. As Zara held the statuette, she beamed with the satisfaction of knowing her recent performances have brought her a step further to her dream of competing on Britain's Olympic team. The eventing prize for 2005, awarded by the Animal Health Trust, is just another sign of how well she's shaping up to challenge her parents' records as riders. Father Mark Phillips won a team gold at the 1972 Munich Games, while mum Anne competed in the Montreal Olympics in 1976.

Friends have credited the change in fortunes to her relationship with England rugby hero Mike Tindall. Outings to local watering holes near her mother's home have been replaced by early nights. The pair, who live in a cottage on the Princess Royal's Gloucestershire estate, rise early in time for Zara to get to the stables by 6.30am: "Being with Mike really helps Zara because he is a dedicated sportsman," explains Great Britain Olympic equestrian team manager Yogi Breisner. "They inspire each other."

Zara Phillips has popped up in Sydney.

She is here following a trip to New Zealand to help launch Catwalk, a spinal injury research charity, of which she is international patron.

She was only publicly sighted by the media yesterday (Tuesday) but has been here since at least Saturday when she was celebrating a family friend's birthday with a group of girlfriends at a Double Bay nightspot.

No sighting of Mike, although the gossip columns mentioned "whispers of a mystery Aussie boyfriend emerging yesterday." Sure.
