I think the Duchess of Corwall has been looking particularly smart and classically elegant in all of her royal enagements since getting married. She looks to be adjusting very well, style wise at least!

Does anyone have any ideas on when Camilla's first evening gala engagement might be and what tiara/diademe she might wear on this occasion?

I have to agree with you all. Camilla is looking quite smart. I am looking forward to seeing what tiara she wears.

Not a tiara "do" but they are to attend "The Far Pavillions" on, I think, the 16th May.

Great! Thanks for the update wymanda. Looking forward to seeing Camilla perform her first evening engagement as the Duchess of Cornwall. She seems to favour Robinson Valentine -- wonder if they'll continue to design some of her evening gowns as they have in the past.

Camilla is becoming an interesting fashion plate in London!

But what about the tiara?

This is all very well, but some of us are becoming increasingly impatient waiting for the debut tiara appearance!

:)

Might pay to check out the Buck House (Buckingham Palace) website for the list of engagements for the Queen & the rest of the family. It might make reference to some upcoming "tiara" event that Charles & Camilla will also attend. :)

Why hasn't she worn one? Most real princesses have worn one by 18, and she is a wee bit older than that.

As Camilla as only just become a "real Princess" as you put it she has had no need of a tiara until now.

I had a look at the BP list of engagements but I couldn't see anything coming up soon. It is updated weekly so, I guess, it is just a matter of keeping watch.

In the United Kingdom, as far as I know, tiaras are really only worn by married women or for the first time by brides wearing their family tiara at their wedding.

It's possible that Camilla might have been at tiara events in the past, but I don't think the wearing of tiaras has been mandatory in society for a long time now (we're way past the days where Edward VII scolded female guests who weren't wearing tiaras!).

im sure about Camilla wouldnt have gift of tiara from HM yets! but mostly people in England wanted to low-profiles to remind of late Princess Diana or Camilla would wores Queen Mother's tiara wait and see.

Sara,
As the second Lady in the land after the Queen Camilla will be given a tiara to wear on occasions where one is required as Diana was & as Sarah & Sophie were. Your loyalty to Diana is admirable but Camilla is now Charles wife and shares all his titles (whether she chooses to use some of them or not) and status.
I hope that Camilla has a tiara that we haven't seen for many years. Not because she shouldn't wear those that the Queen Mum wore, but because it gets boring seeing the same things time & again. It would be lovely to see something different or at least something that hasn't been seen recently. I hope that she has either the Teck Rose & Cresent, The Strathmore Rose or the Delhi Durbar Tiara. We haven't seen any of these since the 1950's.

So now the Duchess is in the second after The Queen but i wonder if the Queen Mother and Princess Margaret still alive,do they after Duchess Camilla in rank?

Precedence

If the Queen Mother was still living the (female) ranking would be:

HM The Queen
HM The Queen Mother
HRH The Duchess of Cornwall
etc

The wife of the Prince of Wales will always be next in the Order of Precedence after The Queen(s).
.

TRH are going to visit Cornwall:
Thursday 19th May:
The Prince of Wales, Patron of The Devon County Agricultural Association, and The Duchess of Cornwall will visit the Devon County Show on its first day, Westpoint, Exeter.
The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall will attend a reception at Restormel Castle, Cornwall.
Friday 20th May:
The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall will visit St Austell Community Hospital and will open the Sir John English Ward, St Austell, Cornwall.
The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall will visit the islands of St. Mary's and St. Agnes, the Isles of Scilly.

Actually, it could be quite a tricky decision for the Queen. On the one hand, she probably doesn't want to inflame negative opinion by giving Camilla anything too obviously regal or connected with the Queen Mother or Diana (especially given the negative response to the finding that the engagement ring was the Queen Mum's), but on the other hand she won't (I hope) want to appear to be belittling or marginalising her new daughter-in-law and wife of the heir to the throne by finding something too obscure. The Queen usually manages to get these balances right, so it'll be interesting to see what she comes up with.

I would not be surprised if there were a connection to the Queen Mother. She was the last consort to a King and the Duchess of Cornwall will be the next consort to a king. Plus, there is already a connection via the engagement ring.
