“The Duke of Cambridge today visited Manchester to pay tribute to the victims of the Manchester Arena attack at a remembrance service at the city’s cathedral.

Prince William was joined by Prime Minister Theresa May as well as first responders to the horrifying scene on May 22 last year, civic leaders and other national figures.”

“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for everything you do.”

HRH The Duke of Cambridge recorded this special message for our staff awards evening last night– recognising the pride and commitment of our team.

The Duke of Cambridge attended a spectacular evening pageant of music and military precision drill from the Massed Bands of the @RoyalMarines and took the salute. The annual Beating Retreat ceremony dates back to the 16th century.

Nice to see William attend the TT officially. Anyone who doesn't know what it is should check out a few vids on You Tube it as it is the greatest motor race on earth. I have family who go every year. Part of the 'allure' is that it is incredibly dangerous, every year multiple riders die as do spectators. I trust William will be kept at a very safe distance, to his disappointment I'm sure!

The Duke of Cambridge is joining thousands of bike fans from around the world to watch the famous Isle of Man TT races.
His Royal Highness, a keen motorcyclist himself, watched the 600cc Supersport race, which saw riders reach speeds close to 200mph (322km/h.)
He spent time with TT staff and volunteers before starting the TT Zero race for electric machines.
He will visit the Joey Dunlop Foundation later.
The Braddan-based charity provides specialist accommodation for Isle of Man visitors with disabilities.

Lovely story from yesterday’s engagement

Quote:
The father of late TT star Dan Kneen has praised the "compassion and understanding" of Prince William, who offered his support to the family.

Mr Kneen, from Onchan, was killed in a collision on 30 May.

The Duke of Cambridge requested a private meeting with his family during his first official visit to the island.

Richard Kneen said the prince showed "genuine interest" and "wanted to hear all about how Dan first got involved with bikes and what he had achieved".

Mr Kneen, whose son Ryan is also a TT racer, described William as a "thoroughly compassionate and understanding young man."

Writing in a post on Facebook, he added: "What a lovely young man he is. He spoke to all of us one by one."

Considering the recent suicides of public figures, I hope that James' Place will be able to assist those contemplating suicide. Here is more information on James' Place.

Quote:
James’ Place is the first centre of its kind in the UK and aims to help save lives by providing face-to-face therapeutic support for men during times of need. The centre was founded by Clare Milford Haven and Nick Wentworth-Stanley after they lost their 21-year-old son, James, to suicide.
The centre, established by the James Wentworth-Stanley Memorial Fund, will be run from a house in the heart of Liverpool’s historic Georgian Quarter. The house has been renovated to provide a private and welcoming environment for men experiencing suicidal thoughts and has been designed to make them feel at home and at ease.

Shocking statistic

Quote:
Suicide is the biggest killer of young men in the UK. Every year more than 6,000 people take their own lives and 22 per cent are men aged between 16 and 24. Men are three-times more likely to take their lives than women and the equivalent of one man dies every two hours.
