The "Dancing With the Stars" reports seem a bit confused. Two refer to the US version of the show, one to the British. None of them say she is appearing on either show, rather that the producers have publicly announced she has been invited to appear. There is nothing that's been posted in the Forums quoting Sarah herself (or the producers) confirming her appearance.

Is this whole story based on a throwaway comment from Sarah that she "loves the show" and wants to improve her tango?

Here are the reports, courtesy of Avalon at #135 and #140:

FERGUSON SIGNS UP TO DANCING WITH THE STARS
Sarah Ferguson To "Dance With The Stars" in the UK
FERGIE WOOED BY CELEBRITY DANCE SHOW IN THE U.S.

You're absolutely right. I remember him getting quite emotional when he asked if the press had enjoyed the show and no one piped up that they had. Seems he stomped off in a rather undignified way. I remember thinking it was a bit immature for someone of his age and position.

He basically said that he thought the press were being snobbish and silly and didn't realise that it was about raising money for charity and then he walked out. At the time it was seen as a queeny strop. Now it makes perfect sense and is quite justified IMO.

I watch Australia's version of "Dancing With the Stars" on a semi-regular basis, and if the UK/US version (whichever she's rumoured to be doing) is like ours, I don't really see a problem. The "stars" raise money for charity, and I don't think the activity is demeaning. They all take it quite seriously and it's hard work. And the women get dressed in some exquisite gowns made of the most marvellous fabrics that fall and float beautifully.

ETA Perhaps it's important she be given no power to select the clothing she wears. The salsa and other Latin stuff could pose some problems if she's given any input.

The Duchess has a perfct figure for Strictly Come Dancing and great pins! Anyone remember those shots of her dancing at a function and her skirt rode up to reveal her thighs?

When you say "pins" are you referring to her legs? Just wanted to double check

She is not, IMO, a 'celebrity' here, all anyone remembers is her getting her toes sucked and displaying far too much flesh!

Definitely referring to her legs... The Duchess has delightful legs and I can just picture them twirling around the dance floor!

It would be a bit pointless sending a family photo, to some they may still have ties but, they are not a family as such!

Anyone who comes from a divorced family knows that statement is completely erroneous. The marriage may be broken but the family is not.

Of course it is, if the parents do not live together, eat together, it is a broken unit. I know many, many people who come from divorced parents and once they are divorced, the 'family' is also divorced. Most people then move on and have a different family unit. Most children, IMO, will tell you that when that happens they have separate family units. So your statement of "Anyone who comes from a divorced family knows that statement is completely erroneous". is the one that is inaccurate!

I would agree, skydragon, but Sarah and Andrew have made it an annual tradition to send a joint Christmas card - usually a photo that Andrew has taken of Sarah and the girls and sometimes he's in the picture.

I agree its strange but it makes them happy.

Obviously Skydragon believes she is the only one who could know what constitutes a family so I'll just leave it at that. But I think that Sarah and Andrew are role models for families of broken marriages. It is nice to see that their divorce has not diminished how they function as a family

Are they a family or not? It's a question of interpretation I think, and all views are valid.

My view is that if Sarah and Andrew and the girls think they are a family, then they are a family. And I think they set a very nice example of how people who care about each other can relate after divorce. If they want to send out a joint Christmas card, I think that's great.

If either Sarah or Andrew re-marries things will change, I would think, but then I wouldn't be surprised if they both remained unattached.

I agree, I am not sure why but it seems they have grown comfortable being unattached. Which of course if that works more power to them!
