thank you MII for the information, i started to collect HM's pictures a year ago, and then i found that she wore that special pearl necklace very often. i've been wondering where she got that since then. thanks for solving my mystery.

the book i mentioned is Queen and Country by William something, i don't know his surname cuz i got the translated version of the book, not the original.

oh, i'm tired of the saga(no offence). i guess i should use the word tired of 'reading' it everywhere. though i also wish to see HM wear more jewels other than the pearl necklace, she has so many beautiful jewels, it will be a total waste if she doesn't wear them.

You are most welcome my dear florawindsor,

Ahh, William Shawcross. Yes, I am familiar with Queen & Country (also a British BBC documentary series in commemoration with Her Majesty's Golden Jubille. I have both the book and series. Great insight).

I sympathise with your feelings in regards to the late Princess of Wales (most respectively). It seems (to me) that there cant really be a conversation concerning the the British Monarchy where Diana isnt made part of the equation. I do wish for Diana's sake and that of the House of Windsor (or Mountbatten Windsor - whichever you prefer), that we should look to the future instead of over our shoulders all the time. Lets remember her for her humanitarian efforts, her strong will, love and dedication to her boys and the masses. But when will she ever be allowed to rest?

As for Her Majesty's love of pearls. Indeed, this is no secret.lol. It seems a tad odd, that for a Lady (most respectively) who possess one of the worlds most luxurious and pricelss jewel collections, that she is not really open to the idea of "mix" and "matching". But Her Majesty is a stickler for being mundane, and I doubt if she shall change her ways now at the age of 79.lol.

But we love her nonetheless!

Helen should have gained weight like I said, but from those pictures from rex I can already tell that helen will do a great job, I believe in the picture she is biting her lip much like the queen does and seems to be walking like the queen walks/

Helen is a great actress - she'll do a great job. I'd rather have someone good than someone who just looks like the Queen and can't play her-if you know what I mean. :)

Indeed, the shape of Dame Helen's face is nowhere near round enough for Her Majesty. She does gaze in the same way, and is accurately raising her eyebrows when looking down, but if I think of her as Her Majesty, I can't help but think that she's frail and unwell.

I'm sure though that Dame Helen shall triumph in the role, and eagerly await seeing it.

HM looks simply wonderful, the outfit suits her very well. I wonder if she chose to wear purple because of the recent death of Lord Bradbourne. The picture of the queen with the man who seems to be explaining the sport is funny. He's all into it but the queen's expression seems to be saying "I don't get it" she just doesnt seem very impressed.

The Queen looks great in that color. And as for the picture of the "sport", curling (the sports name) is a very difficult sport to master. My husband is from Minnesota and they play up there all the time, so from time to time we watch it on TV, we've been together for 7 years and I'm just now getting the hang of watching it.

The first time I saw curling on tv I had very much the same expression on my face as the queen. But yes it does seem rather difficult.

Thankyou Sarah for the link :)

This doesnt surpise me at all to be honest.

Although there was speculation concerning the relationship between Sovereign and Prime Minsiter during Baroness Thatchers time in office (which of course were undeniably false) it is wonderful to see that not only has the Baroness been created a Kinght of the Most Noble Order or the Garter, but does still infact have audiences with the Queen when their calendars permitt them to do so. Although I am rather hesitant to use the term, It would seem that a friendship has been established between sovereign and commoner. But, I do however use this term most cautiously.

I believe they do have a great respect for one another.

Sara, the opening paragraph of your linked article states "with the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh among 650 guests."

How interesting to hear that both the Queen herself and Prince Philip shall attend this party marking a rather significant age for Baroness Thatcher! I must say that I'm rather surprised, even if Thatcher is a strong personality and so on, I must say that I've never expected the Queen's and her "friendship" (or whatever it is) to be this strong.

Britain's Queen Elizabeth II waves to onlookers as she leaves Holden Point tower building, in Straford, east London Wednesday 12 October 2005. At the top of the building she viewed the proposed 2012 Olympic Games site. It was her first visit to the site which is the centrepiece for the Summer Olympics and Paralympic Games. She was escorted by former Olympian Sebastian Coe, chairman of the the London Organising Committee of the Games.

I think it's wonderful that the Queen will be going to Margaret Thatcher's 80th. It shows that the Queen respects her former PMs whatever they may or may not have done and it also throws out of the window those ridiculous stories about how much the Queen loathed Mags.

It sounds to be a brilliant bash - the Queen, Shirley Bassey.....

She has been busy lately...I think it is wonderful that the Queen and Prince Philip are attending PM Thatchers birthday. I think everyone agrees or should agree that she was a great PM.
