A TWENTY-ONE gun salute was due to be fired this afternoon to mark the Queen's accession to the throne.
The commemoration will take place on Edinburgh Castle's Mills Mount Battery at midday.

Her Majesty Queen Victoria reigned for 63 years, 7 months and 12 days. Her Majesty Queens Elizabeth shall equal this reign on the 18th of September 2015. Her Majesty shall then become the longest reigning British monarch, and will no doubt continue a much longer reign even than that.

What a lovely picture of the children playing in the ballroom! They are adorable, and the dresses of the girls look really cute. The whole scene makes the room come alive, so to speak.
