Very good to see The Queen and Prince Philip together at church. I hope she continues to get better.

It's also good to see the Cambridge's and Middletons.

Wonderful to see Her Majesty out and about. Long May She Reign.

Rarely in recent memory have the press been so eager to report on who exactly goes to Church!

Thank Goodness she was able to go or at least one of the papers may have become so over excited that they pronounced not only was she on her death bed but that she had in fact died and we weren't informed because conspiracy reasons.

Her health and what happens when she dies has (according to frends) been news in Norway too, with UK experts/correspondents on the television.

Glad to see that she was well enough to attend church today. She looks lovely in that shade of blue.

So happy to see het back at church and on the mend :flowers:

She looks lovely in the blue and with the brooch:)

The Queen looked great but boy... The Duke of Edinburgh... He looked immensely frail to me!

He isn't 96 yet though - don't age him too soon. He will be 96 on the 10th June so still 5 months until he reaches that mark but he did look like a very old and frail man and not the wonderfully handsome man he was in his youth.

It is a little bit of a no-win situation for the Palace, isn't it ? If the Queen doesn't make any publuc appearances, people will say she's terribly ill, but, on the other hand, if she only makes occasional, discreet appearances as she did today, people will suspect they are trying to show her in public to hide her true health problems. Either way, the media are likely to be skeptical (Br. Eng. sceptical) about her health.

:previous:Enough to make anyone dizzy!

What? This is a very strong and healthy 90-year old who is still out riding. She only had a cold and both the BBC, ITV, Sky News and all reliable sources/experts have gone out of their way to tell us that she is up and about. And the British media doesn't look skeptical at all.

And to those who think Phillip looks frail: He is 95 and walks like a 40-year old.

I think the newspapers are being more sceptical than the tv news, this is probably because newspapers have to fill their pages with speculation and longer commentary whereas tv news only have to report the facts.

Yes, but that was before she attended church. The newspapers (I've seen) doesn't look skeptical at all now.

CC 8/1
The Queen presented The Queen Elizabeth Prize for Academic Excellence at Springwood High School, King’s Lynn, to Toby Hoare, who was introduced into Her Majesty’s presence by Mr Andrew Johnson, the Headmaster.

Congratulations to Toby Hoare on his academic achievements!

That is the award usually presented on the first Sunday of the year but given that that Sunday was also New Year's Day it may always have been planned to be a week later. This is often her first engagement of the year.

The Queen & the Duke of Edinburgh will visit the Fiji exhibition at the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts, UEA, Norwich on January 27th

The Queen has been reported as dying in the US tabloids too. And those tabloids say William and Catherine are about to become king and queen. As usual, they ignore Prince Charles and Camilla and have no clue as to British succession.

When you really think about it, those reports are stretching the truth. The Queen *is* dying. In fact, we all are. That process starts the day we are born.

HM The Queen (90 years young) looks great and healthy. And look at her smile in the pictures in the daily fail article in iceflower's post.

Video:
The Queen has arrived at a Women’s Institute event in the Norfolk village of West Newton today, as Her Majesty and Duke of Edinburgh continue their break at nearby Sandringham.

Court Circular 19th January

Sandringham

The Queen held a Council at noon.

There were present: the Rt. Hon. Amber Rudd MP (Secretary of State for the Home Department, acting for the President), the Rt. Hon. Karen Bradley MP (Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport), the Rt. Hon. James Brokenshire MP (Secretary of State for Northern Ireland) and the Rt. Hon. Brandon Lewis MP (Minister of State, Home Office).
Mr. Richard Tilbrook was in attendance as Clerk of the Council.

The Rt. Hon. Amber Rudd MP had an audience of Her Majesty before the Council.

Note: The visit to the WI is not mentioned. Obv considered not official

That is the same as Charles and Camilla's visit to the flood concert the previous Friday - again not in the CC.

It does show that the royals do do things that aren't officially recognised by HM when she approves the CC each day and in this past week there are at least two examples of that now.

The Queen makes a visit to the WI every year while at Sandringham but it is not an 'official' engagement as it doesn't make the CC.

I believe she is a member of her local WI branch and she does these visits as a ‘’private member’’ and not as an official royal duty.

I hope Prince Philip is okay since he's not at his planned engagement with The Queen today.

I hope so too Dman

I love the Queen's face as she exits her SUV & sees the shirtless performers (who must have been freezing - picture 6 in the gallery iceflower linked to). Probably nothing to do with the half naked men, but funny nonetheless.

She looks so pretty in bright colors!
