Queen's tribute to army who locates lost soldiers in military graves | Royal | News | Daily Express
THE Queen spoke about her family's painful search for the missing body of her uncle today when she met defence officials who helped trace military graves.

"Well yes, I think some of their work led to the discovery of where my mother's brother fell," the Queen said.

Video:
The Queen was given a glimpse into the Royal Family's military past during two armed forces-related engagements in Gloucestershire. She visited the Defence Business Service, based at Imjin Barracks, and saw its medal room - which featured several military accolades issued by her ancestors. She also spoke with staff at its Joint Casualty and Compassionate Centre (JCCC) - which helps bereaved families deal with the administrative challenges following a death.

The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh will visit Birmingham next week it has been announced.

This is one occasion that I think the color on HM is not flattering. It just does not do justice to her lovely skin and is rather overwhelming, IMO.

Sniffer dog proves the Queen does not carry cash - Telegraph
The Queen, who was described as “our nation’s greatest public servant” by Mark Sedwill, Permanent Secretary at the Home Office, made a speech to thousands of staff who stood on balconies all the way up the building’s seven-storey atrium.

She drew laughter with an apparently self-referencing comment about the trials and tribulations of public service, saying: “I know that being a member of the Civil Service, and indeed being involved in public service of any sort, is not always an easy task. Even the best public servants cannot hope to be popular with everyone all the time; and - as in every walk of life - there is often room for improvement and finding fresh ways of doing things.”

Her Majesty also encouraged the public servants to speak the truth, “even when that truth is unwelcome” and to show “integrity, stamina, and selfless duty, as well as essential values such as being fair and keeping one’s word”.

Thanking the civil servants for their service, she said: “A life of public service is an honourable calling: you have the opportunity to shape people’s lives, inspire others, and uphold the very highest standards.”

Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh were in Birmingham today, November 19, to open Birmingham Dental Hospital and School of Dentistry, to re-open Birmingham New Street Station, to attend a Service of Dedication for the Pals War Memorial outside Birmingham New Street Station and to visit the Midland Metro Tram Extension:

It's good that the Queen continues to wear these bright colours in her outfits into late autumn and winter. I think she looks fabulous in her hot pink.

The Queen has always been shy and a bit reserved, but she is a very kind, warm, caring, forgiving, non-judgmental, wise and calm lady who lets her family find their own way, as her children, grandchildren, former staffers, prime ministers etc have said. She also used to be warm and spontaneous when she walked along the crowds, smiling and accepting flowers.

The reason to why I write this is that she seems more and more reserved/tired when she is out on engagements these days. She smiles and waves less than she used to do, she rarely speaks with the people who show her around, her school/hospital visits etc have become very rare, and she hasn't gone on a real walkabout since 2012. This is not the case when she does things inside the palaces. Then she smiles and talks to people and appears to be in excellent form.

Another thing I've noticed over the last three years is when she meets family members and they kisses her while she just stands there. She used to kiss them back.

When she held receptions for the patronages/charities of Charles and Anne to celebrate their 50th birthdays she smiled and wished them happy birthday, but when she did the same for Edward and Sophie in february this year, she just stood there and looked tired.

I've seen the same with other people in that age, so I think its natural. And what am I complaining about, this lady is 90 and she's still going strong.

And as we see here, she still smiles and looks to be in great spirit as usual while the crowds braved the weather to see her. The Queen was cheered by thousands of people, with some shouting 'God Save the Queen' others shouted 'we love you' according to the mail, other media sources and people who were there.

She met building staff who had worked through their apprenticeships on the redevelopment, including William Grant who was marking his 26th birthday. According to the mail he said: ''She was really nice.'' Mr Grant, from Acocks Green, Birmingham, also joked: ''She wished me happy birthday. But I'll have wait 74 years for a card.'' He said to the ITV that it was outstanding.

It's always good to see The Queen on the job. It is amazing to see a woman her age still doing this kind of job. Also, Prince Philip is still going strong too. I'm sure they have their good days and not so good days while carrying out these duties.

Yes, it is!

Prince Philip has been rude/funny again.
Now the Duke of Edinburgh insults BIRMINGHAM | Daily Mail Online

He enjoyed a joke about the Brummie accent with a railway worker. He asked the train announcer whether she called out departure information in a local accent.

When she said not, the 94-year-old Royal replied: 'I suppose you've got to announce in an English accent so everyone can understand you.'

The light-hearted exchange was recounted by Network Rail worker Shaun Jasper, who said the Prince was 'funny'.

As I have said several times, i'm no fan of Philip and his comments, but I don't think he was insulting Birmingham. The people who met him said he was just being funny.

^ Yes, it is natural that an old lady of 89 should look tired sometimes and be slowing down. Prince Philip accompanies her nowadays on many of her engagements and that no doubt is a great help and support.

Elizabeth still does one heck of a lot more than Queen Victoria did in her old age. For much of her life after 1861 she expended a great deal of energy on inventing excuses so she needn't do things!

The Queen, accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh, attended a Service at Westminster Abbey on the occasion of the Inauguration of the Tenth General Synod of the Church of England followed by the Inauguration Ceremony in Church House - 24, 2015.

Queen arrives to address Church of England national assembly | Royal | News | Daily Express
THE Queen dazzled in a stylish tweed jacket this morning as she braved the cold weather to open the Church of England’s General Synod.

Her Majesty arrived with the Duke of Edinburgh to attend a service at Westminster Abbey to mark the inauguration of the Tenth General Synod, which lasts for five years.

This will be presided by Most Rev Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury and a sermon will be delivered by Father Raniero Cantalamessa, Preacher to the Papal Household.

The Queen looked elegant and in good spirits as she opted for a grey and cream striped tweed jacket and a grey hat, adorned with an oversized cream bow.

After the service, the royal couple will make their way to the inauguration ceremony in Church House, the Westminster headquarters of the Church of England.

The Queen has addressed the opening of the Tenth General Synod of the Church of England in central London this afternoon, calling for greater unity amongst the Christian communion. Her remarks follow last year’s controversial decision by the Church’s law-making body, to approve the ordination of women bishops, and comes as the Church faces renewed pressure over its stance on homosexuality and gay marriage-
