Yes, thank you, MagMil ... what a touching video. When (and where) was it taken? I wonder if the Queen gets as teary-eyed as a lot of us do when we hear the song?

An article and a video from 'The Telegraph' on the Queen's visit to the pre-school earlier today. The children and the staff took a great amount of time to prepare for this visit and I love that the children wrote a letter, asking Her Majesty to visit their school.

Thank You, Daria_S, for the article. It was a really touching moment for Her Majesty and children who had the pleasure to meet their Queen.

Might we have a pre planning thread in the way we get ones for Royal weddings?

There was a photo in 2002 but it was taken at the time of the festivities not on the anniversary of her father's death - a day on which is it rare for her to even be seen in public (unless it was a Sunday in which case she would go to church).

Wasn't there a large painting done in 2002, set at Windsor during the Garter/Ascot festivities, of the Queen + pretty much the entire BRF + a number of foreign reigning and non-reigning royals?

This weeks Hello magazine has a stunning range of pictures of Her Majesty, including some beautiful black and white pictures of Elizabeth with Philip and the children.

The first post on this Jubilee thread has a 'monarch' picture.

Thanks, thats not the picture I was referring to. I was referring to a large painting that showed all the BRF along with several reigning and non-reigning royals.

This is the only other picture done, by painting do you mean they were actually sat together for a painting or do you mean a photograph?

A painting, although I assume the artist worked from photographs to accomplish it and used some imagination with the groupings.

All the various golden jubilee, queen elizabeth paintings, british royal family paintings searches come up with no grouped paintings in google and the TRF Golden Jubilee thread has no such picture.

Thanks for the link Lumutqueen.

Is it just me or is the neckline of HM's dress in the 1st photo somewhat risque?

Also, how sweet are the photos of Charles and Anne? And Prince Philip was a real hottie in his day.

It may just be you, for I see nothing wrong with it. If you took away the piece of material behind the v shape then that would be risque. But perhaps at the time or people from that generation may think so.

It was a joke! I just don't think the Queen has ever really shown a hint of cleavage, which this dress does. I think she looks wonderful.

I don't think the dress is risque at all - it was the fashion of the day. I say that because I have a number of photos of my mother attending balls in the early 50s in similarly designed dresses and still have one of them.

No, not risque at all. Evening gowns were cut low for young women and HM is quite well endowed. I have a ballgown of my grandmother's from 1955, when she was 55 years old and it is cut quite low, but not plungingly distasteful as they are now. Even halter topped gowns were not considered risque, as they exposed only the HINT of a woman's figue.

The pictures of Charles and Ann are precious. I love Ann's curls. Her Majesty looks gorgeous in that gown, and the neckline is not risque at all. I've seen more revealing dresses. The picture of Philip with his children, showing Ann how to work the camera is sweet too.

A lovely series of photos and how adorable are Charles and Anne cuddling each other. And Phillip was exceedingly matinee handsome in his youth and the Queen a beautiful woman.
