I thought so as well, lumutqueen

Prince Philip was presented with a birthday cake as he had his
birthday yesterday, in some way I found it quite touching to
see him holding it ---> Pic

And they've met with the Duke of Kent during today's visit
to Dorset as he's Patron of the Tank Museum ---> Pic.
I hadn't noticed that before as there's only that single pic
in the gallery

A birthday celebration for Prince Philip:

The Massed Bands of the Royal Marines perform their spectacular Beating
Retreat ceremony on London's Horse Guards..Musicians from the 5 Royal
Marines Bands paraded in celebration of the birthday of His Royal Highness
Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. The birthday celebration, performed only
once every three years, has particular meaning for the Royal Marines,
since the Duke of Edinburgh is their Captain-General. The magnificent
pageant of military music, precision drill and colour dates back to the
16th century and is regarded as a piece of living history. All proceeds
from the event goes to charities including Help for Heroes, Seafarers
UK and Royal Navy and Royal Marine Charities.

What an amazing event. Prince Philip looks so proud and happy in his uniform in the first picture. Why does the event happen on every 3 years?

I t's nice to know that the Queen is "allowed" to make "personal" friends. I should imagine she could provide the sort of service that only a priest could. Perhaps even more.

What a wonderful "mentor" she would make for a woman whose position as her "husband's wife" means her every move is watched, every word recorded and her personal friendships must, by virtue of her position, be somewhat distanced.

Actually, the Queen and Michelle Obama share a common position, both have the ears and eyes of the public and neither are elected and so have to be exceptionally careful as to what they do an say. The Queen's life history would be an invaluable resource to any "significant other" of a Head of State or even Monarch.
