Prince Philip to turn 85 'in private'

June 08, 2006 at 10:45 am
London - Prince Philip, husband of Queen Elizabeth II, will celebrate his 85th birthday on Saturday in private at Windsor Castle.

A Buckingham Palace spokesperson said that the prince "always celebrates his birthday in private" and declined to say whether he would be having a party.

On June 15 Philip will attend a service at St Paul's Cathedral. He will then watch the massed bands of the Royal Marines perform in his honour at London's Horse Guards Parade.

* Prince Philip's 85th Birthday thread: here. *

Here are some unwatermarked photos from the Queen's visit to the Founder's Day parade. I simply loved the blue of her suit. Its so flattering to her. I also liked the way she cocked her head in one of the pics. :)

I love the Queen's outfit at the Royal Opera HOuse. It suited her very well and it is nice to see that she keeps her style up to date!

GUARDS' BIRTHDAY A TALL ORDER FOR THE QUEEN

The Queen wanted to lay on a major celebration for the Grenadier Guards when they marked their 350th anniversary this week, but the monarch was in for an even bigger surprise herself when she met Regimental Lieutenant Colonel Bolitho.

Wow, might I say that the Queen looks great in the black & white top and white skirt, and I'll add just a bit sexy! What a way to get older, she is showing everyone over the age of 65 how to grow old with style and grace. Who can't help but love Queen Ellizabeth II. What a lady!

Indeed She is a Wonderful woman :) If their was ever a woman who epitomized "Girl Power" its Her GOD SAVE THE QUEEN LONG LIVE THE MONARCHY AND ROYAL FAMILY!

Queen will make visit to ground zero

US tour follows birthday year

trans.gif
AS the Queen marked the official occasion of her 80th birthday with a day of pageantry, it emerged yesterday that a far more sombre engagement is also being planned for her — a visit to ground zero in New York.

That's great news, I think a royal tour of the US would be a great idea!

It's remarkable how the Queen still has her health and is so "young" and vibrant. Making a trip over the big pond, and having the kind of heavy schedule that such a tour entails, and at her age, that could certainly not be done by everyone in her age.

I don't know if she was the first to come up with the line, but very funny.

I was not sure where to post it or to post at all, but I find this article very funny. :D I must admit I didn't know about the position of the goats in the army. :D

British army lance corporal demoted for acting the goat

William (Billy) Windsor, regimental goat of the Royal Welch Fusiliers, has been demoted for refusing to keep in step at a parade for Queen Elizabeth II's 80th birthday, officers said.
