cspan.org has awesome coverage cuz they go to this news programme that actually talks about the hsitory of this and also some political analysis of what may be said. but this is b/f and after the speech. it is quite fun. you will ahev to scroll down and look for british opening of parliament or something like that.

The Queen looked so beatiful in that white cape and pearl-and-diamond encrusted jewellery on the way to the Opening of the Parliament.

The dress looks very nice. Her Majesty looks so beautiful.
Today Her Majesty will hold an Investiture at Buckingham Palace. And tomorrow The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh will carry out 7 engagements visits in Essex.

She looked very nice. I like the dress.
I think that her more recent evening gowns are - with few exceptions - better than those she wore in the '90s. Take, for example, the dress she wore at Opening of Parliament in 2002 or the pale blue one she wore at dinner at 10 Downing Street in 2002: they were nice.

Other Opening of Parliament pictures.

This is funny.

She's always wearing that shoes.......

I like this (the ceremony is shown on a screen in the Palace of Westminster: on the left there's a statue of Elizabeth I, on the right.... you all know.)

Yes the dress looks very nice ElsaR but i dont think this is the one Her Majesty wear at The State Banquet for President Bush. The one at State Banquet looks different to this one,i'm sure.:)

I think you're right. I checked the banquet dress: it's similar but there are differences.
So this is a new dress!
(I corrected my previous post).

queen opening parliment question

Can anyone tell me who the two women wearing white dresses were? They followed the Queen into the speech, and then just stood their while she talked. Were they her lady's in waiting or something? The broadcasters identified everyone except for them.
Thanks

Sorrybut i dont have the links to.I read it for long timeago but i have not still kept that. And i also hear from some people the say that they dont like The Royal Family anymore. They say a lot of bad things about The Queen.I dont want to say about it,i want to have respect to The Queen, not say that about her.But i think The Queen is not like what they say.I think Her Majesty has done her work very nice and she is a great Queen.

I share your feelings about the Queen, but I'm afraid there are people that don't like her and many people who don't want monarchy anylonger. I see only only now that you are from Australia, HMQueenElizabethII, and you love the Queen so much! I'm happy.

Today Her Majesty, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh and The Prince of Wales, will attend the Opening of Millenium Centre,Cardiff Bay.

NOVEMBER 28: Queen Elizabeth II along with Duke of Edinburgh and Prince Charles attended a Royal Gala at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff, Wales.

Must say not impressed by her gown, rather looks like a shapeless sack and the color really doesn't suit her majesty very much.

Banning fox hunting has been a complete waste of parliamentry time and money. Foxes will still have to be killed as they are pests. All that will happen is a lot of people will loose their jobs and homes. The only reason Tony Blair pushed through the ban was so he could tick one 97 election pledge before going to the polls in Feb.
For the record Zara Phillips regulary hunts and Prince Charles has been hunting all his live - it has not just been Camilla's influence.

What does "hunting with hounds" actually entail? Are you still allowed to use hounds for retrival? Such as in grouse or bird hunting. Or because hounds are used in the hunt, it's was also banned.

I found this picture of Prince Philip at Trooping the Colour 2004.

Look at the letters on his shoulder: GVIR (meaning King George VI).

What does it mean? Simply that he was appointed during George VI's reign or.... that his uniform is at least 53 years old?
