There are other things in the news at the moment, like £50 million being stolen and the hunt for yet another mp's scalp. But, yes, times have changed!

State opening for Welsh assembly

The Queen has officially opened the £67m new home of the Welsh Assembly in Cardiff on St David's Day.

Great to see the Queen and Duke together with Charles and Camilla! I wish we'd see more of them together, but it's of course a little bit extra special when it happens every now and then. I read that the Welsh Assembly building is really modern and uses heat from the ground (earth) and that the toilets are flushed with rain water - that's really cool.

Pictures are from Retuers via Yahoo News.

Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Charles, Prince of Wales and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall are joined by First Minister of Wales Rhodri Morgan, during a military fly-past to mark the official opening of the new Welsh Assembly Senedd building, designed by Richard Rogers, in Cardiff.

Cool The Royal Visit to Wales

I have read a report that the royal visit to Wales was met with some booing. I hope the Queen and Prince Philip didn't take this personally. They have been such a honorable monarchy. But as far as Prince Charles and his wife are concerned please give me a break!

Oh it was. But they were not booing the Queen - they were booing the whole idea of this new parliament. Many people used the event to protest about lots of different causes but the Queen certainly didnt make eye contact or even glance in their direction. 'The Royalist' have made out that there was this huge mournful procession with the Prince of Wales grief-stricken and the Queen hurt and almost in tears. It just isn't true.

Then might I suggest you don't look at their threads?

Why is it? The Queen is kissing her daughter-in-law who she gets on well with and is now as much a part of the Royal Family as the Queen herself. It's natural HM should kiss her.

Exactly. So it's a regular thing. People need to get over it. (Although I'm personally delighted every time I see it!)

Good thing the fashion for those really wide-brimmed hats is a thing of the past or they might have done each other a serious injury.

They exchanged the same sort of greeting (kiss) last year at William's graduation. I don't have a photo, but I remember seeing it in an online video clip (BBC perhaps?).
