If this is true, I say she has earned it. As most people her age would have taken more time off years ago.

I agree. Most people have long since retired by their 80th year. My grandmother, who also turns 80 this year, has not worked full time for nearly 20 years. While the Queen is very devoted to her role as Queen, she is also a very practical woman and knows that she should slow down a bit. But she is not going to ever fully retire.

well deserved. The queen is the hardest working royal and always a "class act". Though who will be filling in? I don't see too many of the younger royals working all that hard. Time for Princess Kate!

Photo from HELLO magazine

The Queen, pictured during a visit to Reading's Royal Berkshire Hospital last week, has continued to put in a full week's work, despite being many year's past the official retirement age

A piccie from BBC News Online. How sad am I that I know that that is the outfit Her Majesty wore on her last visit to Canada and the outfit the Duchess of Cornwall is wearing, she wore on Christmas Day 2005 to go to church?

lol - not at all, but I love that outfit the Queen is wearing. It's just begging for a PETA critique but I think it's fabulous.
