^she got 2 As and a B, don't remember the disciplines. That's the best results of any Windsors.

From what I have read, most of the criticism centers around her being useless and trashy because her friend is cupping her breast, and she's not wearing a British flag bikini and oh, she's smoking what a disgusting little girl...

I completely agree with the criticism regarding the cost of her (mostly useless) minders. The rest of the criticism is pure bashing, imo.

So true Idriel...again writing someone off at the age of 19!

Again...I agree better judgement should have been used on Eugenie's behalf. She is not just any British teenager on gap year.

And I honestly I am getting a little put off by the just like her mother/father comments. Again.....is she being judged by their past experiences? She is after all, her own person.

I have to agree here as well. PURE UNADULTERATED BASHING because she is a York girl. Did anyone criticize Harry for wearing a cap with an American flag in Afghanistan? All those who want the York girls to lose their titles because of their behaviour then you shouldn't be opposed to the Windsor boys losing theirs as well for their drunken and carousing behaviour. Or, are we talking about excusable misbehaviour because they are Charles' boys? Or, more precisely as it is really called, double standards?

Sometimes, when one is in the public eye, there are just some things one doesn't do. . .

You're absolutely right, Russo, but in that case, all royals should be judged fairly and with the same set of rules. As it is, the York family is rarely cut some slack, while "my favourite royal" is often forgiven of the most grievous offense with a mere shrug.

The future King of England will never lose his HRH unless there is a revolution
There is a slight difference between putting a flag on a cap and where Eugenie put it.
All the young royals should put their act together when out in public but young "ladies" should not behave in certain ways and when they are members of the royal family they know they are being photographed constantly, so if they can´t behave at least they should be more careful.
It is only natural that the girls are compared to their mother, one looks just like her and both of them seem to have the irreverance that their mother had when she was a member of the royal family.

Another shameful outing :nonono::eek:

For me Eugenie and her sister represent the worst of royalty: despite being unimportant for the institution, holding on to a royal title but ignoring the responsibility that goes with it. Happy to use the many privileges and to live the celebrity lifestyle but adding zero when it comes down to duty or service for the country. Wearing the label "royalty = represetatives of a country" like a coat, that is worn when it suits and taken off when it doesn't. Usually it doesn't, when they try to justify their embarrassing behaviour with "privacy".

Princesses like Eugenie and Beatrice are downfall of any monarchy because they generate the institution into a self service shop.

And I can't help but thinking, like mother (or father), like daughter.

I don't think you can place the blame entirely on Beatrice and Eugenie, but yes they are mostly to blame for the dissolution of our respect for the monarchy. They should have the same respect, moral standards and common sense when they are on holidays or on gaps year or at home. This is a complete mistake and to be quite honest most of what Eugenie has done lately have been mistakes, and I believed her to be the more sensible. I also agree that this is a direct influence from their parents or more specificially their mother.

And indeed they have titles of Princess' for a reason, they have to undertake the responsibility that comes with holding that title. William and Harry understand what they have to do and yes William is the heir and Harry the spare but it is no different Beatrice and Eugenie have royals titles just like William and Harry. They use their title when it suits them, as you say Duke of Marmalade, use the privelges and perks that comes with being grand daughter to a monarch.

snipped...

This is not directed at anyone in particular... Just as William and Harry's drunken behaviour and Harry's wearing a Nazi uniform to a party is the direct influence of Charles and/or his stepmother?

No, not bashing, just complete disgust that any royal would allow her female friend to straddle her and cup her breasts whilst in a public place. If Eugenie wants to wear an Iraqi/USA/Canadian/what ever flag as a bikini, that is her choice, nor do I think the bikini was too small.

Harry was severely chastised for his behaviour, both by the media, the British and probably his parents, can the same be dreamed for these young women, probably not.

I was not bashing her in any way just stating an opinion same as you No problem with the bikini, only that it was a bigger issue then the cupping of the breast in public, imo it was all in fun but somethings do not look well. If you know that you will end up in the paper over something it would be best to make a better call on how to behave in public. She is in all reason an adult so all the Sarah, Andrew stuff don't fly with me she can make her own choices now lets hope in the time to come she makes better ones.

But what tells you she allowed the friend to do that? Maybe the friend just did it and Eugenie chose not to make a stink out of it. These are two female friends interacting with each other in a very touchy-feely way in an informal setting. Some are trying to make it as if they are offering a free porn show to punters.

Is it dignified? No.
Should she be more careful? Yes, of course.
Are the pictures embarrassing, for a young girl and even more for a young Princess? Definitely, especially when tabloids write disgusting headlines to accompany the pictures.
Should she be bashed for that? No, imo.

You also seem offended by the hugging and piggy backing. Really??
Well it's obviously a generational gap as I can't see how that would be deemed indecent.

And there are definitely double standards going on there. When a certain royal gf who is very much loved in here is pictured in embarrassing positions, people jump on the 'perverted' paps and the 'desperate' newspaper editors to defend her.
Oddly enough, no-one seem to have any problems with these pictures being shopped around or with a 19 year-old girl being hunted down on her gap year and having sleazy headlines written about her. Everybody is too busy gleefully trashing the hated Sarah's progeny to stop and question the ethical aspect of this tasteless exploitation.
Harry was severely chastised for his behaviour, both by the media, the British and probably his parents.
For the 'we do bad things to bad people' cap? No he wasn't. He did receive some slap on the finger for his 'I don't really like England' repartee but that's about it.
Or are you referring to his partying lifestyle?

Please note that the Current Events thread for Princess Eugenie of York is now reopened. Several posts have been deleted as mean-spirited and plain just off topic.

In order to have a balanced and civil discussion regarding the Current Events of Princess Eugenie and her sister, Princess Beatrice, please note the following rules:

1) Beatrice and Eugenie are not their parents. Therefore any posts that make any reference to them being their mother's or father's daughter (in reference to their alleged misdeeds and/or bad behavior) will be edited or deleted.
2) All posts regarding taxpayer money as it relates to security for the York princesses (as well as the British Royal family), can be found here http://www.theroyalforums.com/forums/f23/royal-security-21145.html
3) All speculative posts will be deleted without notice. For example, it is alleged that Princess Eugenie ran around naked while at school. Since there is no proof that this actual event happened, there is no need to talk about it. Unless someone can provide proof that it is Prince Andrew who is determined for his daughters to remain HRH's, there is no need to talk about it.

Also, please remember the following TRF rule:

  • Insulting comments about other posters and royals are not permitted. Criticism is acceptable; insults and flames are not. We expect our members to treat each other with respect.
I would also like to remind everyone of the following announcement: http://www.theroyalforums.com/forum...e-in-repetitive-and-ugly-criticism-20674.html .

Yahoo news, thieves tried to take the purse of Princess Eugenie´s friend..

Mail Online, Princess Eugenie mugged. The story becomes more sensational by the second almost.

The muggers would have no idea who she was so it could happen to anyone walking round with a group of friends late at night in Cambodia......

Next we are going to hear that it was nearly an assassination attempt and that thanks to the body guards who were pelted with stones when they intervened (rocks in some reports) the purse seems to have been saved and so, of course the security is money well spent. If this princess would stop her gadding about on her gap year to far away (from her home) places life would be much easier for everyone and I don´t see how enjoying herself in bars for a whole year is exactly improving her mind.

I didn't know that gap years were supposed to improve one's mind.

I was under the impression they were to allow the young person concerned experience things they couldn't do at home i.e. see other countries and she is certainly doing that - just being in countries like Cambodia would open her eyes (and mind) to the different cultures and problems experienced elsewhere in the world.

And the original story
PRINCESS Eugenie and her pals have been mugged on their gap-year travels, The Sun can reveal.

-------------------
I read that it was NOT a direct attack on Eugenie (a direct threat to a royal), it was not Eugenie that was mugged, it was an attempted mugging of one of her friends and IF it had been a direct threat, two officers would have been unable to do anything about it!

Well I hope she is experiencing the problems of looking after a young teenage princess on her wanderings.

What problems is she experiencing I wonder, I hear that all these young people intent on partying and drinking in someone else´s country cause great problems for the authorities of these gap year destinations.

Isn´t experiencing different cultures and problems supposed to improve(or broaden )
one´s mind, I suppose it depends a lot on the mind of the person and if the person is just out to have a good time or not.

What a relief for me as taxpayer to know that paying for Eugenie's bodyguards acutally makes sense because I was just given the proof that there are evil people out there who could harm a HRH on [-]holiday[/-] a gap year. Tourists being mugged, what's new? It happens every day, not only in Cambodia but also in Britain.

It was soooo predictable such a story would come up after all the controversy. Honi soit qui mal y pense ;) It almost looks as if The Duke of York had hired Max Clifford.

^I agree.
I can't see how that incident justifies anything.
Her friend was mugged, not Eugenie, and the only reason why they noticed them in the first place was probably because they were White.

Am I the only one who doesn't know why Eugenie is in Cambodia? I mean, I know it's called a 'gap-year' but a gap from what exactly? While we're all in the UK struggling to make ends meet, this one's swanning around the world like a lady of leisure. When is she actually going to DO something? It's getting very irritating to see the York girls following in their father's footsteps and continuing his legacy of being workshy.

^Gap years are a well established British tradition and the economic collapse hasn't stopped thousands of teenagers to go and enjoy one.
I assume she'll do something once she's ended her education, like most young Britons.

Most young Britons face a life of actually working, a gap year is nessecary. For Eugenie, most of her adult life will be one long gap year.

A gap year isn't that necessary. It may be a tradition but it's a fairly new one. Gap years didn't happen back when I was at school and university; the system was set up so that people went to university in the autumn after leaving school in the summer.

Here in Portugal most of the students want to get their student days over as quickly as possible and wouldn´t consider delaying their careers by a year. I have known more than one student who has taken a gap year (British) and have just not gone on from there, they just couldn´t face going back to studying. This all depends on the student but I really think the kind of gap year that Princess Eugenie is having seems to be a huge waste of time and money and not helping her image as a British royal at all.

Full right :flowers:

Nevertheless, this is the main difference between "normal" people and rich people....
The life Eugenie is having is the life most of rich young persons are having. The only difference, which is the irritating point, is that for Eugenie, contributors are paying.

While I think it's rather stupid of the tabloids to blow up the story as if Eugenie was the one mugged, on the other hand, I don't understand why the protection officers would have been involved in the struggle for the friend's bag either. Wasn't Eugenie's safety their only concern? If Eugenie wasn't the target and not in danger, they should have just let it be instead of drawing further attention to the group. It would have been worse of one of the POs were injured by the rock throwing, and the muggers could have wanted further revenge. If the girls want to experience as if they were any other normal backpackers, then getting mugged should be part of their "education".
