I go with common sense. She's old enough to know better.

We know Bea is in trouble when avid fans of hers (like Bella) are endorsing a dose of common sense for her! :flowers:

Needless to say the Lent term has already started, and Bea had better knuckle down and start studying seriously. If I was in her place, I would make damned sure I would not be seen out partying too often now..... just not appropriate. That said, I ave io doubt there might be 3-4 sightings of her in the coming weeks outside Nobu or some other expensive eatery or night club!

Years back when the Bush-daughters were famous for drinking underage etc., I recall a newspaper article where it said that the parents explicitly asked the security people to watch over their girls, but not to stop them doing anything stupid.
I have a friend who was on that job. He's Secret Service. Said it was the WORST job he had because they ditched them all the time. I don't believe they asked them to stop them from doing anything stupid because my friend said Barbara Bush the Senior TOLD them to stop. And of course, NOBODY goes against that battle ax! :D
I was hoping HM would do the same with her granddaughters!

I take umbrage with your saying that Barbara Sr is a battle ax! (Ha!) Rather she is a Very strong leader of her "Clan"!!:D
I hope that you are not suggesting that HM is unable to lead Her clan but it seems that way. The York princesses need guidance and it should come from the Queen, imho. Whether they would listen remains to be seen...

I tried to change my post but once again it got erased. I was trying to make a light-hearted post but it came out wrong. The First post I wrote was Perfect. This one is NOT!! My apologies to Russo.

I don't think that Princess Bea is as smart as Buckingham Palace likes to say. I think that Eugenie is the smart one - I just wish that she would distance herself from her older sister.
Of couse, Fergie has always had a wild streak in her - I guess that the apple doesn't fall very far from the tree.
It makes me think of Chelsy who is tucked away in Leeds studying hard. This is the one whom I would suspect to be out partying but she is not.
London has too many temptations and Bea needs to knuckle down and get serious. She has already had her gap year where she could play. Guess Andrew will be supporting her for the rest of her life.
Of course, she is studying fashion - like she has an apptitude for fashion - NOT! She is a walking disaster fashion-wise. This young woman has no talent for fashion and is wasting her time.

Entirely my view. Thats not to say as a young student she can't be seen out partying, but there needds to be some moderation. That said, the numebr of times she appears in the press does seem to have come down in the last few weeks.

I thought she was doing a history degree, and not one in fashion.

She's doing a history degree, the fashion thing was bandied about by the press as part of their guessing before the information was released as to what exactly she was studying.

Huh? The only post of yours which has been deleted was deleted by yourself.

How do you know that, Pamk?
There are so many successful stylists that really are walking fashion disasters!
Just think of Karl Lagerfeld, Galliano, Cavalli ..............

I was going to make a similar post. :flowers: One of my dearest friends always looks as if she has been dragged through a hedge backwards and even if she spends £1000's on a dress, it looks as if it came out of someones rubbish bag..... but, she can put an outfit together for any of her friends and make them look and feel like a million dollars. :flowers:

You're not talking by chance about Camilla's daughter-in-law? :D

Ooops! Sorry Warren. I Did accidently erase my own post but not because I wanted to!! :nonono: I just clicked the wrong buttons to correct something and poof! it was gone and I couldn't get it back. Will I never learn?

Quick...somebody please tell me that Beatrice took a cab to the club and that's why she didn't know that a car and driver were there for her! :-O

Dazed and confused Beatrice tries to hail a taxi home outside nightclub... until she is reminded about her driver | Mail Online

If the journalists liked her they wouldn't print such embarrassing no-stories. It seems Beatrice has managed to get herself labelled as HRE (Her Royal Embarrassment) - it will be difficult for her to get rid of that label, things ike that are sticky...

Princess Beatrice has certainly done something to make the newspapers hostile. I wonder what it was.

Well, having an HRH title, cousins to William and Harry, being young and like to check out the clubs as their friends do.....Seriously, do any of the royals really have to do anything for the papers to pick on them? If I forget where I parked my car in a mall, it's no big deal. Just a laugh between friends. For the newspapers, it's an unforgiveable lapse in judgement.

On a happier note for Beatrice:

I think that Beatrice would be considered what we say in the States as being "Scatter-brained". She just doesn't seem to think before she acts. No malice intended here!

I am so glad the paparazzi doesn't follow me around. If Beatrice is scatter-brained, with me, they'd have a field day.

I don´t quite agree with you, I don´t think the newspapers have have it in for her just because she is HRH, and I don´t think that is the reason they are so critical of the two Princes, I think that it is their behaviour that has made the papers turn against them, they see more of it than we do for sure.
I really think it is time for all these young HRHs to put their act together and behave themselves in a more fitting way for members of the royal family.

It would certainly be a nice change if they did so, Menarue. They only have to look at their grandmother to see how it is done as she is the epitome of how a royal should act and behave. I also think it is time for HM to sit them down for a good talking to before they all make bigger fools of themselves and embarrass the Family further.

Well, Sarah and Andrew are the parents. If there is any sit downs with Beatrice, or her sister, it's up to their parents, not HM. :flowers: At the risk of offending those who think the world of HM, QEII didn't even go to a regular school and hang with any children not prescreened for suitability. How can she relate to the 20-something college students of today?

I just think its another one episode of making a mountain out of ant hill. Beatrice lost her car this week. In a crush, it's perfectly reasonable for her to think of getting a cab knowing she didn't have her own ride. If that required a dressing down, OMG, I shutter to think how fast the jails will explode with more serious offense.:dizzy:

I think some of the hostility comes from how much their security costs when the police themselves don't consider them high-risk. Many people see Prince Andrew's insistence on police bodyguards for them as an unnecessary indulgence, something he insists upon to reassure himself that he and his children are "important" in the Family. Perhaps the public/media wouldn't mind so much if they were working members of the Royal Family but we seem to be paying for little more than a taxi service for when they leave parties and nightclubs and it is costing the taxpayer a fortune every year. If the Queen is so keen to cut costs in her Family and improve it's image perhaps she might want to start here.

This is an odd story, indeed. First, I don't think her car being stolen a month or so ago has anything to do w her forgetting her security and driver. This girl has been escorted about since she was born. And suddenly she forgets about them?! How did she get to the club? I find it hard to believe she walked out of the club alone. Where were her friends and that bf? Didn't anyone in her entourage remember?! This is weird.

As for her being targeted by the press, it does seem that way. I agree w Angela that perhaps she wouldn't be so hard hit all the time if she was seen doing something a bit more worthwhile than partying and going on constant vacations.

And they always seem to pick the most unflattering photos. The pic accompanying that article makes her look huge. I guess she can't catch a break.

I guess every parent would like to protect their children as much as possible and as long as possible. I'm just curious: is Andrew's assertion on the girls' importance in BRF documented or based on assumptions written by reporters? It seems there are enough hue and cry stirred up by stories whipped up to sell papers. Sometimes, I just have to ask...really?

It's just surprising that Andrew can have the final say on such expenses if there isn't other supporting evidence or guideline. Is there some threat assessment by the royal protection squad that determines which royal is entitled to extra security? In terms of in line of succession, Anne's children are much further down the line after Andrew's and Edward's. Are Edward's children getting protection?

You had my vote all along, Bella, until you got to the last sentence! She can't catch a break because she happens to be just a wee bit over-weight?? She IS, but what does her weight have to do with this discussion! She just doesn't get it!!! She is clueless. Case Closed.

Does bring to mind how the press used to pick the most unflattering photo of her mother, even when she was slim and stylish, to compare with Diana.

IMHO all this fuss could have been avoided had she gone somewhere else for her studies. I doubt all the journalists would have taken the time to follow her. By staying in London, Princess Beatrice has made it easy to be seen out and about. :flowers:

I mean honestly, how much worthwhile things were done by e.g. Prince William during his study time? I do not recall any and I am sure he had his bit of partying, too, ... but far north, not in London.

Here is one of the many articles concerning their 'needed' security.

Last night, a former head of Scotland Yard's Royalty Protection Squad called for an urgent review of the girls' security arrangements.
Retired chief superintendent Dai Davies said: "Given the pressure on security and policing budgets, I believe it is a gross abuse of taxpayers' money for Beatrice and Eugenie to receive this level of protection
