That's a good question, Incas. Andrew seems for all intents and purposes a very hands on dad.

He did lose his temper over the Vanity Fair spread I believe. Those photos were way too adult for a young girl like Beatrice although she must have loved dressing up for them.

I agree also that as a parent I would not let my teenage daughters go alone to these types of events. Its too irresponsible. The teenage type of events they may go to would probably not get the press attention that these adult events get.

I took a look at the LHJ pictures on the magazine website. They're actually quite attractive. All the women wear eye makeup that is too dark and heavy. Beatrice and Eugenie have an excuse; they're young and when I was that young I did the same thing thinking it would make me look older and sophisticated.

Sarah though doesn't have the same excuse, the dark eye makeup is very unflattering.

Beatrice did a Tatler spread, but with the approval/acceptance of both parents. I never heard of a VF spread.

I think the makeup was put on with a shovel for all three of them. But they didn't do their own makeup, LHJ would have had hair, wardrobe and makeup people at the shoot, and the photographer would have had a say in how they were kitted out. The girls may have had a little input on the makeup, but I don't know how much, because I've seen earlier shoots Sarah's done with LHJ and she didn't shovel on the makeup, she looked more beautiful than she ever had before, so I'm going to chalk this up to being what the photog wanted rather than the three of them thinking that much makeup actually looked nice.

Yes, you're right kelly it was Tatler not Vanity Fair. Camilla did the Vanity Fair shoot.

I hadn't heard that Andrew pre-approved the shoot, although I did hear that he was not happy with the results.

Sarah and the girls have worn heavy dark eye makeup before several times so I don't think we can blame it all on the photographer though you're right and the photographer does have some say in the final output.

Andrew pre-approved the interview and shoot, but I don't know that any of the family had final approval before Tatler went to press. I'd be surprised if Tatler would give them that power, even though they are royals.

Sarah's makeup wasn't really a problem to me. She's 46, so she's more than old enough to slather it on. Beatrice and Eugenie are younger, but they're also at that age where they think it looks nice. I just don't think either of them would have had a problem with that much makeup. They wore slightly less makeup for the photoshoot for Eugenie's 15th birthday. They seem to think it makes them look older and more sophisticated, and what teenaged girl doesn't want that? I guess Sarah figures they'll grow out of it.

For someone with such a pronounced jaw, Beatrice has no chin in profile.

Thanks (as always) for the recent pictures, Iceflower. Pss. B's dress looks like it's made of the same fabric that her mother's dress was made of in a recent pic w Pss. Eugenie. While I think Pss. Beatrice is quite pretty, esp. with center facial shots, she doesn't have the greatest profile.

It's always a pleasure, Bella :)

Here's the cover pic of Ladies' Home Journal, I found it on the same website, but it was not included in the link HighGoalHighDreams shared with us, so I post it as well:

Thanks again for the picture, Iceflower. Doesn't Pss. Beatrice look like the young actress from "The Wedding Crashers" in this latest picture? Do you know who I mean? The one who was with Vince Vaughn (in the movie). Just my opinion.

Actually I do not know which actress you mean, Bella but it's a great pic, a nice memory for the three, they can put on the chimneypiece

HRH Princess Beatrice of York is still young and still trying to find her feet. She has just finished high school. It is therefore inappropiate to compare her to Grace who was in her very late twenties, I believe, when she entered the Princely family of Monaco with a definite image style (no doubt aided by her exposure in Hollywood). It would be more fitting to point the young princess to Caroline and Stephanie for their sense of style.

Personally I think that good role models for the princess would be TRH Crown Princess Victoria and Princess Madelaine of Sweden. They seem to thoroughly enjoy being royals in a nice, humble sort of way.

But even Madeleine has come in for criticism for her apparel, especially for the infamous red dress.

Beatrice is 17 and is still finding her way fashion-wise. I think she might still have another year of school, because she took her GCSEs a year later than normal due to her dyslexia.

I believe you are referring to "Elton John's~White Tie and Tiara Ball" for his Aid's Charity.
Kelly Osborne might have been a guest there, but it was not her party.

although these girls look very nice in their dresses from this event, it is my personal opinion that they are not wearing age appropriate dresses.
Eugenie needs to pull hers up and not show cleavage for a 15 year old.
Beatrice needs to do the same. But instead of revealing so much chest, she should cover "some" of it up. Both these dresses are appropriate for someone in their mid 20's, not teenagers.
I'm not a prude by anymeans, but I do think these girls are dressing way to old for their age, which is a big shame. They have nothing to look forward to when they do get in their 20's because they have already done it all. The fancy dresses, the stilletos, the makeup, the adult parties.
I think they have gone from being children to being grown ups and missed out on all the fun teenage years.

What cleveage is Eugenie showing...she has on spaghetti straps.

While I would agree that I certainly didn't wear these type of outfits at their age. I think girls were more revealing clothes these days.

Here is a weird question..what is the legal age to go to a club in England (although I realize that they were at a private party). I think if the Andrew and more specifically the Queen had a problem..she would stop it.

As a teenager, I go to many parties that are similar to these (though not on this level) and dress- while I do not like either girl's style- in a fairly similar fashion. It has to do with who you associate with and the way you feel about the job of clothes. I may dress differently in some ways than people who are my age going to the same things, but I still feel that my clothes fit in, and it is probably the same as Bea in that manner. (If someone wants to see a picture of what I mean, you can send me a PM and I'll send you a couple. :))

Also as a teenager myself, I dont think these outfits are too bad. I have seen much, much worse, at least they arent half naked Just as HighGoalHighDreams said, they may feel that their outfits fit in at these parties and don't want to be seen a frumps (or something like that).
