I am not impressed with this new image of Beatrice. They remind me of that very over-the-top photo of Sarah, her mother, on the cover of the "My Life" autobiography. A bit too much J.Lo and not enough Princess Grace.
HRH Princess Beatrice of York is still young and still trying to find her feet. She has just finished high school. It is therefore inappropiate to compare her to Grace who was in her very late twenties, I believe, when she entered the Princely family of Monaco with a definite image style (no doubt aided by her exposure in Hollywood). It would be more fitting to point the young princess to Caroline and Stephanie for their sense of style.

Personally I think that good role models for the princess would be TRH Crown Princess Victoria and Princess Madelaine of Sweden. They seem to thoroughly enjoy being royals in a nice, humble sort of way.

But even Madeleine has come in for criticism for her apparel, especially for the infamous red dress.

Beatrice is 17 and is still finding her way fashion-wise. I think she might still have another year of school, because she took her GCSEs a year later than normal due to her dyslexia.

although these girls look very nice in their dresses from this event, it is my personal opinion that they are not wearing age appropriate dresses.
Eugenie needs to pull hers up and not show cleavage for a 15 year old.
Beatrice needs to do the same. But instead of revealing so much chest, she should cover "some" of it up. Both these dresses are appropriate for someone in their mid 20's, not teenagers.
I'm not a prude by anymeans, but I do think these girls are dressing way to old for their age, which is a big shame. They have nothing to look forward to when they do get in their 20's because they have already done it all. The fancy dresses, the stilletos, the makeup, the adult parties.
I think they have gone from being children to being grown ups and missed out on all the fun teenage years.

What cleveage is Eugenie showing...she has on spaghetti straps.

While I would agree that I certainly didn't wear these type of outfits at their age. I think girls were more revealing clothes these days.

Here is a weird question..what is the legal age to go to a club in England (although I realize that they were at a private party). I think if the Andrew and more specifically the Queen had a problem..she would stop it.

As a teenager, I go to many parties that are similar to these (though not on this level) and dress- while I do not like either girl's style- in a fairly similar fashion. It has to do with who you associate with and the way you feel about the job of clothes. I may dress differently in some ways than people who are my age going to the same things, but I still feel that my clothes fit in, and it is probably the same as Bea in that manner. (If someone wants to see a picture of what I mean, you can send me a PM and I'll send you a couple. :))

Also as a teenager myself, I dont think these outfits are too bad. I have seen much, much worse, at least they arent half naked :D Just as HighGoalHighDreams said, they may feel that their outfits fit in at these parties and don't want to be seen a frumps (or something like that).

When I was in college, I saw girls go to class in fewer clothes. The girls look fine.

I realise what many of you're saying - that she's a young pretty girl, new in the social scene, many experiences to go - but I do think that both Fergie and Beatrice need to take a moment and think about what they want the York's to be known for (jet setting girls or girls combining the fun side of life with royal work, not to mention their educational achievements etc).

If it continues like this, Fergie bringing her daughters to all kinds of social parties and events for the celebrity elite, and them being spotted frequently at clubs - Beatrice will surely be labelled as Europe's new "party princess" soon, and that's a label that can take years to wash off.

Princess Madeleine, whom like any young girl liked to go out every now and then to trendy clubs in her younger years (and still does for that matter), was for a long time solely labelled as the "party princess" by the media - even if she didn't party every weekend and has lived quite a normal, private life on the side of her official role. It's taken her years to get rid of this label (although it still lingers), a little bit more fair treatment from the media, and also highlighting her academic achievements and other interests in life (like her work with Unicef now, and her protectoship of the Swedish Make-a-Wish Foundation).

I agree, many young women dress far more revealingly; however, the one difference is that Beatrice is a princess of the United Kingdom and fifth in line to the throne. In my personal opinion, not being as revealing as possible is hardly something to shout about. I think that the girls should not be attending such functions and certainly not dressed like that. I know that they're young and want to have fun, but the fact remains that there ought to be a different set of standards of behaviour for royals, or else they become irrelevant, simply jet setters with an expense account.

Thanks for the pictures, Lady Windsor. I think Pss. Beatrice looks nice. Her dress is flowy and is flattering for her body type. Her hair looks fab, too. Pss. Eugenie's dress is a bit too sophisticated for her at this age. She doesn't look too comfortable. As for the girls attending too many jet-set parties, I don't think so. It just seems like it 'cuz they have been out alot but it's summer, they're out of school, and summer is party time. As long as they're not photograhed chain-smoking or guzzling the booze, dancing half-naked on tables, that sort of thing, I don't think accompanying their mother will affect their image too much. Esp. if they continue participating in royal functions/events, too. Sarah, on the other hand, should probably get a date to escort her to parties. It would look better for her.

This particular function was a charity ball. I suspect they'll be going to quite a few of those as part of their royal duties later down the line. I'm prepared to give them more leeway if they're at a charity event than if they were in a nightclub, basically.

While I still think Princess Eugenie's dress is okay..I see what many are speakign about in regards to Beatrice's dress. We don't need to see her breast..that is totally inappropriate. At least in my opinion. My bet...the little grey men in the Palace will say something to Prince Andrew who will then say something to the girls.

charity event or not, they are not old enough to be socializing with people that are at least twice their age and older, where alcohol is being served and dressed in clothes that are entirely inappropriate. is no one supervising these girls because, as much as i admire sarah, neither her nor andrew are apparently able to make good judgement calls with regards to the girls and the functions they attend. why can't they attend charity function that aren't for adults??

How many charity events are aimed at teens? I'm not a part of high society anywhere, but I don't think they're that common.

they're probably more common than we think it's just that they don't get people like the pss beatrice and eugenie attending. even youth oriented organizations have fund raisers. how come we never see pics of them visiting childrens hospitals? or schools? these would, by far, be more appropriate than attending these parties that they're way too young to be at.

Maybe that's something they could do as they get older. Start organizing teen charity events. :)

it would be nice wouldn't it? :)

Events like these are not commonly targeted for teenagers. The ones that are, while still high society, are different. As a teenager, I only go to the ones targeted for adults. Yes, alcohol is served (including, legally, to people under 21, 18, 16). Does that mean I partake in *anything* that could be considered wrong in any way, shape, or form? No. I was raised to extremelly conservative standards and I willfully have always followed them. This includes my manner of dress, speech, respect, conduct, actions.

Why am I sharing this? Because that's the reason I don't go to parties targeted for teenagers! I know for a fact when the teenagers that choose to go to adult parties with me get together as a group of teenagers- they act much, much worse. So, perhaps Bea and Eugenie don't go to teenage parties often for that very reason? I think being at those parties would give more reasons to cause scandal and upset- think of Eugenie's teenage party.

You will see me disagree with a lot of things the girls wear and much they do- but I think this reasoning should at least be considered. I mentioned in a previous post that anyone can PM me for a couple pictures of the way I and people dress at things like this. In those pictures, you'll also see how much younger I am than almost everyone else- and that often I'm not the only one not holding a drink. ;) That said, like Eugenie, I often dress older than my age. I prefer that to what Beatrice wears.

Also, for some certain functions, it's important to remember that Beatrice may play polo with some of these people- the people twice my age at the parties I go to are also my teammates, and that's very, very common for a teenage polo player.

My reasoning shared- I was going to refrain from commenting, but the cuts on Bea's dresses are NOT acceptable! This one was not simply hideous- it was, IMO, flat out wrong.

This might be out of left field..but what the heck.

It appears from what we see (cause we don't have access to their school time) that Beatrice and Eugenie spend a significant amount of time with their mother...who treats them like a girlfriend and not a mother. If that is the case, then while they have friends who are their age it appears that they are used to spending more time with actual grownups. Which is a shame in a way, if this is the case, cause then they have gone straight from childhood to adulthood with no in between.

Also, correct me if I am wrong...and I realize that Hello and the Tatler are not a true representation of all that is England...but these girls are not the first young ladies that have burst upon the party scene fairly early. I am thinking the Gedolf girls, Lady Victoria Hervey, Kelly Osborne to name a few. And before anyway says anything, I realize that those ladies are not a member of the British Royal Family..that's why I think that someone is going to nip this in the bud soon.

i think she looks terrible in the dress and why is a teenager allowed to go to this kind of function??

I totally agree with you Duchess! She is still so young and dresses up as if she was a trollup (in this picture at least) like the Hilton sisters! I wish she would take a hint from Princess Alexandra of Luxembourg, who dresses modern but not cheap.

Beatrice attended a book signing at Harrods with her mother; search Princess Beatrice at www.wireimage.com. Same for www.gettyimages.com and www.isifa.com.

You know, Harrods made me think of something. Ayesha, Sarah's niece, gave an interview where she mentioned that for her eighteenth birthday, Sarah took her to Dolce and Gabanna because it was 'time for her to have some real grown-up clothes'. I was personally insulted by that, because she makes such a big deal out of how the Americans accepted her, and then says stupid things like that- even though it was in private. What I found wrong about it was how she says she wants to fit in here and that she does fit in here, but then goes shopping for the reason that that's what she considers 'grown-up clothes'. If that's what she needs to feel grown up, then no, she doesn't fit in here.

Their mother badly badly needs them at those functions otherwise in a few years who on earth would care for her? and that dear mother absolutely doesn't want to get a date to escort her to parties as it would mean she might get on with her life as a mere commoner, no longer a royal gee she would rather die than do that.

Thanks for the link, HGHD. God, please tell me they're not wearing the same outfits.

it seems like there spending much more time together then other mothers and daughters...i would never spend so much time with my parents or I would never dress like my parents....no way....

someone made a point earlier about how sarah is more like a friend than a mother. this is a huge mistake. while there's nothing wrong with being friends, girls this age NEED a mother.
