That's really funny! Williamsburg, Virginia is one of the oldest settlements in the United States and it lies in Prince William County, Virginia.

If you do a simple Google search on Prince William, you'll see all these pages on Prince William County, Virginia and only a few of the British Prince William. :D

Read the article and all the silly clerk has to do is to forward it to Clarence House.

:)

WHERE'S THE HEIR, WILLS?

IN love, sometimes you have to take the thick with the thin - and Prince William is no exception.
Especially when it comes to that hint of a fading patch of hair on his head.

Watch the heir, Kate!

It's not just any girl who could stroll up to the second in line to the throne, give him a kiss and playfully ruffle his thinning hair.

Yes, because William will still be a cadet! :D

So as far as Saluting goes what happens when William Passes out

Officers don't normally salute one another, unless it's a parade in which case the junior officers would salute the senior officers. So when William passes out, he will no longer have to salute Harry but, he would have to salute his father if they are both in uniform! :D

lol and Harry too Right? ( if they are both in Uniform that is).

When I was in the service, we had to salute whenever we were in uniform whether in a parade or not. Is British military different?

EXCLUSIVE: SKYDIVER THRILLS FOR SAS WILL

PRINCE William wants to take up parachuting as his dangerous sports option at Sandhurst.

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/tm_objectid=16779089&method=full&siteid=94762&headline=exclusive--skydiver-thrills-for-sas-will-name_page.html

He can't even apply to be in the SAS until he has completed his training and they are not going to alter that for anyone, even a future King!

Thought I read today in another article, I believe the Scotsman, that Wills was headed for the Welsh Guards. Are they SAS? Anyone?

The non commisioned ranks ie. a Warrant Officer (class 1 & 2), Staff Sergeant, Sergeant, Corporal, Lance Corporal, Private have to salute a commisioned officer regardless, when they or you are in uniform.

When you salute, you are saluting the Queens commission, not the person, you have to be wearing your uniform and they have to be wearing theirs (showing the Queens commission) therefore if they or you are not in uniform, you do not salute. However if you are in uniform but not wearing your head-dress ie. cap, beret, you do not salute but, come to attention if approached by an officer.

I'm sorry, I don't know anything about US military, apart from their PX's are brilliant!:D

No. :D He could of course apply after he has had some actual military service! It is not a regiment you can apply for, straight from training!:D

:D Yes, :D Charles has to salute his mum, as you know, regardless of if she is in uniform but, then she is The Queen.:D

That will be up to William and how long he signs on for, he could of course 'buy himself out'. :)

isnt the maximum 22 years

Only for non commissioned ranks and even they can stay longer if it's a specialist 'trade' the Army or Airforce needs. I can't see William signing up for 22 years though! :D

Just read in another article that perhaps that Wills may be in the same regiment as Harry the Household Calvary & Royals. Anyone else hear anything else different?

This is very strange, this restaurant is my fav. It is lush, with fish in the floor and the waiters are excellent! I wonder if he went to Jaxx nightclub after - I doubt it, its rubbish!

They only realised when they read his credit card, come on! None of them recognised him and if they were so disinterested in the royal family that they didn't know what he looked like, would they have recognised the name.
Sounds like the usual Sun nonsense!

I wonder if they were in uniform. Sometimes, when people are dressed the same, the faces becomes a blur. Plus he's got a buzz cut now. It could happen.

They wouldn't have been in uniform, they are not allowed to wear it for r & r. :)

Doesent Avondale go with Clarence or is that an Entirely different Dukedom?

Funny line about DOE explaining to PC what the knight ogf the garter was. I wonder if the Queen will give a dukedom to PW.

Id say she will and id say soon too And that Garter story doesent sound that far out to me It could happen :D

They don't have to go together.

William IV was simply the Duke of Clarence but Prince Eddy was Duke of Clarence and Avondale. Why Queen Victoria gave him a double-barrelled Dukedom I don't know - particular as, if he had lived, he would also have been Duke of Cornwall in time - now that would have been a mouthful in 1901 - Duke of Cornwall and Clarrence and Avondale (I doubt if it would have fitted on the official programmes for the opening of the first Australian Parliament on 9th May 1901 - assuming that he would have come here instead of the Duke of Cornwall and York who did come but he was the heir to the throne at the time).

I wouldn't exect a Dukedom before he marries but..... who knows!!

I do not think there is any limit of time for an officer. NCOs enlist for specific allotments of time (4 years, 2 years, whatever). But officers apply for commissions, and commissions are of varying lengths. At least that is how it works in the US military (I was in the navy). I do think that the British military works the same way for this particular thing.

How could no one not recognize the name "William Wales"? How many people have a freakin' country for a surname? I know it's not his 'surname' per se, but if that's what it says on his credit card, that is what it would look like. I've never anyone named William America or William China, so I can bet anyone named "William Wales" would have to be like, hmm, lemme think...... William of Wales? hmm? Doesn't everyone, non-royalty fans too, know that's Prince William?

Indeed. Charles was a lot younger when the Queen deferred the KG on him (nine, ten?), so I don't see why William can't get a KG very soon. Maybe even this June.

Charles became a Knight of the Garter in 1968 - the year he turned 20.

He was created Prince of Wales the year he turned 10. I think you have confused the two.

Don't forget that Charles was then, and is now, the heir apparent. William is not yet in that position and probably won't be during the life of the present monarch.

She also has two sons that she hasn't given that honour to so maybe she will honour them before giving the garter to William.

I would think thought that she would wait until after he finishes at Sandhurst but that is just my personal opinion.
